Job Summary
The Senior Director, Learning & Development provides strategic leadership for the organization's enterprise learning and development programs, ensuring employees, leaders, and teams have the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to support organizational success. This role develops and executes enterprise learning strategies, establishes governance and standards for learning programs, and partners with business leaders to design and deliver scalable learning solutions that support workforce capability, leadership development, employee engagement, and organizational performance. The Senior Director oversees learning technologies, vendor partnerships, and learning operations while fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth across the enterprise.
Essential Functions

  • Establishes and leads the enterprise Learning and Development Center of Excellence, defining governance, service delivery standards, service level agreements (SLAs), learning content standards, and operational processes to deliver consistent, high-quality learning solutions across the organization.
  • Develops and executes the enterprise learning and development strategy to support organizational priorities, workforce capability, leadership effectiveness, employee engagement, and business performance.
  • Partners with executive leadership and business leaders to assess organizational capability needs and develop scalable learning strategies that support workforce planning, organizational transformation, and strategic initiatives.
  • Oversees the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of enterprise learning programs, including onboarding, leadership development, professional development, compliance education, technical training, and career development.
  • Establishes enterprise learning governance, instructional design standards, curriculum frameworks, and content management practices to ensure consistency, quality, and alignment across all learning programs.
  • Leads the organization's learning technology strategy, including oversight of the learning management system (LMS), digital learning platforms, learning technologies, and emerging capabilities that enhance learner experience and operational effectiveness.
  • Develops enterprise learning measurement strategies and analytics to evaluate program effectiveness, learner engagement, business outcomes, return on investment, and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Oversees enterprise learning operations, including resource planning, budget management, vendor partnerships, contracts, and external learning providers to ensure efficient delivery of learning services.
  • Collaborates with Human Resources, Quality, Compliance, Clinical Education, Information Technology, and operational leaders to integrate learning solutions into enterprise initiatives and organizational priorities.
  • Establishes leadership development frameworks, succession planning support, and career development strategies that strengthen organizational capability and prepare future leaders.
  • Promotes a culture of continuous learning, knowledge sharing, innovation, and organizational effectiveness through modern learning methodologies and evidence-based adult learning practices.
  • Evaluates emerging learning technologies, artificial intelligence capabilities, instructional methodologies, and industry best practices to continuously advance enterprise learning strategies and improve organizational performance.
  • Leads, develops, and mentors Learning and Development leaders and team members while establishing performance expectations and fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration, Education, Communications, or related field required
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • More than 10 years of progressive experience leading learning and development, organizational development, talent development, or related functions required
  • 3-5 years of experience developing and implementing enterprise learning strategies within a large, complex healthcare organization required
  • Experience leading learning technologies, learning management systems, and enterprise learning operations required
