Job description

Position Summary

The Lending Intern performs assigned duties, responsibilities, and studies while participating in a formal lending training program.  Becomes familiar with all of the operations and procedures of the lending department. Employed on a part time basis, not to exceed 900 hours.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1.  Attend to the needs of present and potential customers seeking a banking relationship that may involve unsecured funds and/or credit secured by mortgages or other banking products.
    1. Interview applicants to develop information concerning their business or consumer needs, desires, repayment ability and earnings to determine the viability of the relationship.
    2. Obtain and direct the analysis of all financial data.
    3. Conduct credit checks and make on site visits.
    4. Take the banking relationship through the credit process, deposit process and ancillary bank products process.
  2. Follow current loans to ensure complete conformity with terms and identification of developing trends.
  3. Work with Customers to correct/clear loan exceptions (financial, covenant, collateral, etc.) as needed.
  4. Perform site visits for loan collateral
  5. Assist with the implementation of Abrigo and other software initiatives.
  6. Represent First Guaranty Bank in the community.
  7. Adhere to BSA/AML policy and all other bank policies.
  8.  Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)

  • Minimum GPA of 3.00
  • Enrolled in a business related major (i.e. accounting, finance, etc.)
  • Must be able to work at least 20 hours per week
