Job description

Graco manufactures and markets premium equipment to move, measure, control, dispense and spray a wide variety of fluid and powder materials. What does that mean? Well, we pump peanut butter into your jar, and the oil in your car. We glue the soles of your shoes, the glass in your windows and the screen on your phone. We spray the finish on your vehicle, coatings on your pills, the paint on your house and texture on your walls. Graco is part of your daily life.
The Technical Trainer will be responsible for leading the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of comprehensive training programs and initiatives. The Technical Trainer will facilitate engaging training sessions for a diverse audience, including technicians and sales representatives, and will play a pivotal role in managing learning schedules, participant records, and the certification process. This role will be responsible for partnering with key leaders throughout the organization to ensure training programs are advancing overall marketing strategies and programs.
*This role is based in MSP but requires 50% travel to Ohio.
What You Will Do at Graco
Training Program Design, Implementation, and Coordination
  • Design and develop training programs and materials that stay within the quality, cost, and timing parameters.
  • Implement new programs by conducting training for technicians, end user maintenance staff, distributor sales representatives, and internal train-the-trainer sessions for internal sales staff.
  • Facilitate learning by using a variety of active learning methods and adult learning concepts to develop participants' competencies and to help learners meet specified performance expectations.
  • Manage the administration of learning schedules, maintenance of participant records (e.g., test scores, evaluations, attendance), and the execution of the entire registration/certification processes for courses and demo lab.
  • Coordinate and monitor training needs.

Stakeholder Collaboration and Support
  • Manage/interface with clients such as marketing, engineering, sales, etc., to understand project scope, timing, budget, and human resources required.
  • Respond in a timely manner on any follow-up issues or action items after a training session.
  • Serve as an advisor to the sales force, engineering, marketing, and distributors regarding the resolution of technical issues that affect the utilization of our products.

Technical Expertise and Resource Management
  • Demonstrate mastery of applicable product concepts, technical content, course curriculum, and training methodologies.
  • Serve as a technical product and application content expert for technical service calls.
  • Maintain and monitor the inventory for an organized and well-equipped training facility, including service lab, product components, and training equipment (hardware & software).
  • Manage demonstration lab activities.

KPI Development, Analysis, and Reporting
  • Monitor and evaluate the training program's effectiveness and utilization of training resources and adjust where necessary.
  • Regularly analyze participant feedback, performance metrics, and other relevant data to measure the effectiveness of the training program.
  • Track and analyze the usage of training materials, platforms, and other resources to ensure they are being effectively leveraged.

What You Will Bring to Graco
  • Bachelor's degree in Training and Development, Education, Communications or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in course development and instructional design using adult learning concepts, or equivalent experience in technical assistance or engineering lab environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage projects from start to finish.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and delegate to others.
  • Prove ability to use active learning styles and methods.
  • Advanced group facilitation skills.
  • Strong skills using training software programs.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft office applications including PowerPoint.
  • Ability to travel approximately 15% of time, both domestic and international.

The base pay range for this position is listed below, exclusive of fringe benefits or other compensation. If you are hired, your final base hourly rate will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, competencies, education, and/or experience. In addition to those factors, we will also consider internal equity of our current employees. Please keep in mind that the range provided is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at or near the maximum of the range would not be typical to allow for future and continued salary growth.
