Discover your role:

We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Senior Director Development Project Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for identifying and developing a team of manager through associate director ready program managers. Additionally, the successful candidate will provide operational leadership, direction, and support to assigned small and/or low to medium complexity development program(s).

Team Leadership and Management (Primary responsibility):
  • Recruit, hire, build and lead a team of high performing, early-career program managers.
  • Lead & advance talent-- from manager to associate-director ready talent-- with emphasis on developing, improving, or enhancing PM capabilities, processes & initiatives.
  • Identify and assess development needs of direct reports; Ensure direct reports have actionable development plans and receive ongoing coaching and feedback to enable growth and future leadership
  • Establish and maintain comprehensive training and development curriculum for program managers that aligns with department goals and career ladder.
  • Build project allocation model and process to support the pipeline and development of direct reports.
  • Collaborate with portfolio management to understand longer range resourcing needs and develop plan to address.
Project Leadership and Management:
  • Partner with the Global Program Head on small and/or low to medium complexity program(s) to drive Strategic Program Teams, leading the management and execution from preclinical through late development and life cycle management.
  • Develop and ensure delivery of comprehensive integrated plans, including timelines and budgets, and ensure alignment with company goals.
Continuous Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in project management. Proactively share lessons learned within the team and across the organization.
This role requires:
  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's preferred. Minimum of 15+ years' experience relevant broad project / program management experience required, preferably in the pharmaceutical or related industry
  • Have extensive experience in Pharma R&D project management, a deep understanding of the end-to-end drug development process and a proven ability to deliver results
  • Have excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with all levels both internal and external to the company in order to establish credibility with professionals on the project teams.
  • Have strong presentation and critical thinking skills.
  • Actively promote constructive interactions among team members to address difficult situations.
  • Resolve and negotiate conflicts or problems with tact, diplomacy and composure.
  • Handle multiple projects and priorities with exceptional organizational and time management skills
