About the American Connection Corps:

The American Connection Corpsย (ACC), an AmeriCorps program of Lead For America (LFA), is a service fellowship program aimed at helping communities build the digital connectivity necessary to expand opportunity and economic mobility, ranging from healthcare access to quality employment.

ACC Members spend a year serving with locally-rooted organizations, helping address the digital divide and strengthen access to opportunity. Through their service, they gain hands-on experience, build in-demand skills, and explore career pathways while making a tangible impact in their communities.

About Spring Green Community Library

The Spring Green Community Library's mission is, "As a community gathering place, we seek to welcome and support all people in their pursuit of knowledge and entertainment."

The library is the municipal library of the Village of Spring Green (population 1,538). We also have a larger service area population of approximately 4,400 people. We are part of the consolidated River Valley School District, which also includes the communities of Plain, Lone Rock, and Arena, as well as various townships such as Wyoming, Franklin, and Arena. While this position would be hosted by our library, it would serve the entire River Valley School District area and the ACC member would provide tech help in the other libraries in our area, located in Plain and Lone Rock, and in the village of Arena.

Position Overview

The Digital Outreach & Community Project Coordinator would provide tech help services for the public, both on a drop-in basis and by appointment. They would support staff in providing technology help and guidance to organizations within the community. They would also assist staff with coordinating and supporting a committee that advises the tech help project. All activities will be conducted under the guidance and supervision of staff.

ACC Members are not employees of the host site, partner organizations, or AmeriCorps. The position is intended to provide meaningful community service and build community capacity through digital inclusion efforts.

Key Responsibilities

The ACC Member will:

  • Conduct training sessions for individuals and small groups, tailored to diverse needs and skill levels.
  • Staff drop-in technology help sessions under the guidance and supervision of staff.
  • Conduct one-on-one technology help appointments for community members as requested.
  • Assist staff with developing and implementing project plans and timelines, including sustainability planning activities for the service
  • Recruit interested community members to the project team.
  • Engage with libraries, schools, nonprofits, and local agencies to extend the reach of provided services
  • Identify community needs and provide feedback to inform program development.
  • Track service activities, participation, and community engagement data to support program evaluation and reporting efforts

This position is designed to provide direct service and capacity-building support and may not duplicate, displace, or supplant the duties of existing employees or volunteers. ACC Members may not engage in AmeriCorps prohibited activities, including lobbying, partisan political activities, or other unallowable activities prohibited under AmeriCorps regulations, while serving or representing the program.

Learning & Development Opportunities

As an ACC Member, you will receive structured training and support throughout your service year, including:ย 

  • A two-week-long virtual orientation with the national cohort to kick off the service year.
  • A week-long, in-person national Winter Institute convening with your ACC cohort - travel, lodging, and a per diem stipend are fully covered.
  • Twice-monthly virtual training on skills for service, including project management, asset-based community development, grant writing, and serving vulnerable populations, plus self-paced curricula with opportunities to earn badges and credentials.
  • A structured community listening tour at the start of service to understand local needs, assets, and opportunities.
  • Dedicated 1:1 support from a Lead For America Program Coordinator and twice-monthly peer pod meetings for networking and professional development.
  • Access to a national network of ACC Members, alumni, and community partners.

Requirements

  • Passion for community service and connecting your neighbors to the digital tools, skills, and opportunities they need to thrive.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Interest in gaining experience in community development or digital inclusion.

Eligibility:

  • Be aย U.S. Citizen, National, or Lawful Permanent Resident.
  • Hold aย high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Beย 17 years of age or olderย by the start of service.
  • Have not already served four (4) or more AmeriCorps State/National terms.ย 

Timeline:

We are currently recruiting Members to serve from September 8th, 2026 - August 13th, 2027. Members will serve full-time (approximately 40 hours per week), completing 1700 hours of service over the course of the term.
