Job description

ABOUT THRIVE MARKET

Thrive Market was founded in 2014 with a mission to make healthy and sustainable living easy and affordable for everyone. As an online, membership-based market, we deliver the highest

quality healthy and sustainable products at member-only prices, while matching every paid membership with a free one for someone in need. Every day, we leverage innovative technology and member-first thinking to help our over 1,000,000+ members find better products, support better brands, and build a better world in the process. We recently reached a significant milestone by becoming a Certified B Corporation, making us the largest grocer to earn this coveted qualification.

THE ROLE

The Regional Learning & Quality Manager owns the development, standardization, and ongoing performance of Learning & Development and Quality Assurance programs across Thrive Market's fulfillment center network. This role is accountable for both building and sustaining the systems that drive associate capability, operational accuracy, and quality consistency - not just maintaining what exists, but continuously improving it.

The Regional L&Q Manager leads a distributed quality organization with direct reporting authority across the network. Each site has a dedicated Quality team - a Quality Manager, team leads, and associates scaled to site volume - all reporting up through this role. Day-to-day quality operations are owned at the site level, but program standards, performance accountability, and continuous improvement governance sit with the Regional L&Q Manager. Success here means developing site Quality Managers as operators and leaders, not just auditing against a standard.

Learning & Development operates differently. Site-based trainers execute associate training at each FC but do not report to this role. The Regional L&Q Manager owns the program - curriculum, certification standards, SOPs, and effectiveness measurement - and drives execution through partnership with Site Directors, Operations leaders, and those trainers. Producing consistent outcomes without positional control over the people delivering them is a core requirement of this role.

The two functions are intentionally paired. Training effectiveness is measured by quality outcomes; quality gaps drive the training agenda. The Regional L&Q Manager operates across up to four fulfillment centers with regular site presence, sets network-wide standards, and surfaces systemic issues before they compound. This role suits someone equally comfortable building a curriculum and conducting a quality audit - and who sees both as one system.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Learning & Development

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive learning strategy across assigned fulfillment centers.
  • Design and standardize onboarding, certification, cross-training, and leadership development programs.
  • Partner with site-based trainers and Operations leaders to drive consistent program execution without direct authority over training staff.
  • Identify skill gaps in partnership with Operations leadership and develop targeted training solutions.
  • Ensure all training materials, SOPs, and work instructions remain current and aligned with operational requirements.
  • Maintain training compliance records and certification matrices.
  • Measure and report training effectiveness through operational and employee performance metrics.
  • Support leadership development programs for Supervisors, Managers, and emerging leaders.

Quality Management

  • Directly lead and develop a distributed Quality organization across up to four sites, including site Quality Managers, team leads, and associates.
  • Own hiring, performance management, and career development for all direct reports within the Quality function.
  • Own and maintain quality standards across all assigned facilities.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve Quality Management System (QMS) processes.
  • Conduct regular quality audits and ensure readiness for customer and regulatory audits.
  • Analyze quality performance metrics to identify trends, root causes, and corrective actions.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on accuracy, productivity, inventory integrity, and customer satisfaction.
  • Partner with site leadership teams to reduce defects and improve operational performance.
  • Establish standardized quality reporting and KPI tracking across the network.

Leadership & Program Management

  • Lead and develop a geographically distributed team, setting clear expectations and building Quality Manager capability across all sites.
  • Partner with Operations, Human Resources, Facilities, and Leadership teams to drive operational excellence.
  • Lead network-wide standardization initiatives and best practice implementation.
  • Conduct regular site visits to evaluate performance and provide coaching and support.
  • Develop annual strategic plans and departmental goals aligned with company objectives.
  • Prepare and present performance updates, recommendations, and improvement plans to senior leadership.
  • Manage multiple priorities and projects across geographically dispersed facilities.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations Management, Education, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience within e-commerce fulfillment, high-volume distribution, manufacturing, or logistics environments.
  • 3+ years managing Learning, Quality, Operational Excellence, or Continuous Improvement programs.
  • 2+ years of direct people management experience, including leading managers or multi-site teams.
  • Experience supporting multiple sites or large-scale operations.
  • Experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS), audits, process improvement, and corrective action planning.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and drive operational improvements.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and drive outcomes without direct authority over all contributing resources.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and reporting tools.
