Initially started with the mission to provide access to high quality tutoring without the high price tag, our organization has grown, minimizing education and care disparities for children through child care, tutoring, and more. We are an integral part of the community, providing much needed support for families, schools, and children.
We are looking for a full-time Group Supervisor to support our child care program at our Penn Highlands Hospital location.

What are the duties and responsibilities?
Supervision and Safety:
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times.
  • Supervise indoor and outdoor activities, maintaining a secure environment.

Daily Care Activities:
  • Assist with feeding, diapering, toileting, and other basic care routines.
  • Foster independence in children by encouraging self-help skills appropriate to their age.

Curriculum Implementation:
  • Follow the daily schedule and implement age-appropriate activities.
  • Support classroom staff with games, arts and crafts, learning activities, and other developmental experiences.

Communication:
  • Maintain positive communication with parents, children, and fellow staff members.
    Collaborate with colleagues to help ensure consistent care and support for children.

Behavior Management:
  • Encourage positive behavior through patience, redirection, and positive reinforcement.
    Address challenging behaviors in a calm and professional manner.

Health and Hygiene:
  • Help maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards within the classroom and facility.
  • Follow all health and safety procedures and administer basic first aid when necessary.

Record-Keeping:
  • Assist with documentation related to daily activities, incidents, and observations as needed.

Parental Involvement:
  • Support positive relationships with families through professional and respectful communication.

Schedule and Availability:
  • Must be flexible and available to work shifts based on program and staffing needs.
  • Opportunities may include summer work, school breaks, holidays, and other as-needed shifts.

What are the required qualifications?
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human service field.
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human service field and 1 year experience with children.
  • An associate's degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human service field and 2 years of experience with children.

  • Other:
  • Appropriate clearances and trainings: PA State Criminal History Record, Child Abuse Report, FBI Criminal History Report, and Mandated Reporter Training. Clearances must be kept current.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds on a regular basis
  • Sitting, standing, walking, bending and stopping for long periods of time up to eight hours per day
