Little Legends Learning Center, Inc in Champaign, IL is looking to hire a full-time Lead Preschool Teacher to teach a class of three-, four-, and five-year-olds. Do you love working with little kids? A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A LEAD PRESCHOOL TEACHER

As a Lead Preschool Teacher, you guide the educational direction of every class and help develop your students on an individual level. Every shift, you come to class energized and ready to take on the day. In cooperation with your assistant teacher and support staff, you create engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans that allow the kids to play and have fun while they're learning. You supervise the children as they interact with each other, encouraging safe, friendly, and inclusive play. If the kids get too loud or rowdy, you take charge of the situation and bring them down to an appropriate level.

You assist your students with day-to-day tasks like dressing, washing hands, and toilet training while encouraging their independence. During snack and lunchtime, you prepare each child's meal, strictly adhering to all dietary restrictions. You keep in close contact with each child's family, so you can keep them updated on their kid's progress. You feel great about making children excited to come to school and fostering their development!


QUALIFICATIONS FOR A LEAD PRESCHOOL TEACHER

Our ideal Lead Preschool Teacher will meet one or more of the following educational requirements:

  • Associate degree in early childhood education (ECE)
  • Associate degree with 6 hours specifically in child development (CD) or ECE
  • High school diploma in addition to 1 year (1560 clock hours) of CD experience in a preschool, kindergarten, or licensed daycare AND 30 hours of college credit with 6 of those in courses related to CD or ECE
  • High school diploma and Child Development Associate (CDA) certification

Additionally, candidates are required to fulfill requirements set by the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) including:

  • 3 written references
  • CPR/first aid certification or willingness to obtain
  • Food handler certification to be obtained within 30 days of hire
  • Gateways to Opportunity membership or willingness to join
  • Proficiency with basic computer skills
