Company Description

Coastal Early Learning Center is a Montessori educational preschool and child care center located in Berlin, MD. Our program utilizes the traditional Montessori Method of teaching, which is a child centered education style. The Montessori style of education was developed by Italian physician and educator, Dr. Maria Montessori over 100 years ago. The Montessori educational approach is characterized by an emphasis on independence, freedom within limits, and respect for a child’s natural psychological, physical, and social development. The Montessori Method teaches the child sequentially through hands-on concrete materials, using all five senses. CELC is owned and operated by an American Montessori Society (AMS) Primary certified Montessori teacher.
At Coastal Early Learning Center we believe learning is a lifelong process, yet the most formative and critical years are from birth to the age of six. Dr. Maria Montessori wrote, “The most important period of life is not the age of university studies, but the period of time from birth to the age of six...At no other age has a child a greater need of intellectual training.” We are excited to offer a program that will set children up for long term success in an increasingly competitive world.
We provide a clean, safe, joyful, nurturing, prepared environment that encourages children to explore, investigate and fulfill their natural curiosity about the world around them. Our goal is to guide the children to develop proper character development, responsibility, independence, self-discipline, a love for learning and social skills, which will help them become a happy, bright, engaged and inquisitive adult.
