Job description

JOB DESCRIPTON:

The Department of Psychology seeks a full-time Assistant Professor (preferred) or Instructor in Counseling to begin teaching in January 2027. Responsibilities include teaching courses within the Counseling Track of our Master of Arts in Mental Health program at the graduate level based on faculty expertise/training and program needs. Faculty are expected to teach in multiple formats, including distance learning, online, and face-to-face; serve as a supervisor for practicum students in our Cameron Psychology Center; perform department and university service; support student scholarship; and conduct research in their field. Other responsibilities include student advisement, assisting with program and department assessment and development, and supporting student organizations and events. Other duties as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Assistant Professor (Ph.D.) /Instructor (Masters) teaching master's level courses on the MAMH: Counseling Track, undergraduate and other master's level courses, and one section of General Psychology each semester. Courses may be delivered using a variety of formats including in-person, Zoom, hybrid, and online.  The position requires scholarship and service including advising students on the MAMH: Counseling Track, overseeing the curriculum and assessment for the track, and excellent teaching for retention and promotion. Each faculty member teaches 12 hours per semester.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: LPC, LPC Supervisor in the state of Oklahoma, Master's degree in Psychology or Counseling, experience supervising practicum students, and demonstrated teaching excellence. Candidates must hold master's degree in a mental health related field to qualify for the rank of instructor, must be an approved LPCS supervisor in the state of Oklahoma or be willing to complete the required training to obtain LPCS approval, and must possess and maintain a valid Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: A PhD in Counseling is required to quality for the rank of Assistant Professor.  Preferred qualifications include a minimum of five years of experience in the counseling field, experience supervising pre-licensure LPC candidates, licensure in Alcohol and Drug Counseling, and demonstrated expertise in online teaching and Quality Matters standards. Applicants who are doctoral degree candidates may be considered for the Assistant Professor position, but if hired and the degree has not been earned by the start of the employment period, the initial appointment will be made at the rank (and salary) of Instructor and will only be converted upon documented completion of the degree, in accordance with the conditions specified in the offer letter.
