What You Will Do:

The Learning Support Coordinator is integral to the operations of a student success department that serves students across the university. NLU Learning Support encourages students to take an active role in their education and empowers them to become independent, lifelong learners. The Coordinator role blends office operations with administrative responsibilities, oversees student worker daily tasks, and promotes Learning Support services and events. The Learning Support Coordinator supports the department's daily operations by following established processes that facilitate student access to tutoring services, while also ensuring adequate student worker coverage, managing incoming requests, coordinating departmental administrative logistics, and maintaining accurate documentation to support timely service delivery. This role operates within defined guidelines and escalates more complex issues to Learning Support leadership when necessary.

Essential Responsibilities

Perform administrative and scheduling tasks for Learning Support services in accordance with established procedures, including:

    Monitoring the department email inbox and routing inquiries using defined response guidelines
  • Scheduling asynchronous assignment reviews and tutoring sessions using approved parameters
  • Responding to routine student, staff, and faculty inquiries and escalating nonroutine issues to Learning Support leadership
  • Maintaining organized records and documentation according to department standards
  • Supporting oncampus office space and inventory tracking per established processes

Support the creation and distribution of Learning Support promotional and communication materials by:

  • Posting approved content to internal student engagement platforms and department social media accounts
  • Assisting with the preparation and dissemination of print and digital materials in coordination with Learning Support leadership
  • Updating calendars and announcements using content approved by Learning Support leadership

Provide daytoday operational support to student workers, including:

  • Assisting with recruiting and onboarding using established hiring materials
  • Creating work schedules within predefined staffing guidelines and act as the first point of contact for ad hoc schedule changes as directed by leadership or needed due to student worker changes
  • Assigning daily tasks and monitoring attendance

Support Learning Support workshops and events by:

  • Assisting with logistics and staffing assignments as directed
  • Tracking attendance and maintaining participation records
  • Responding to class visit requests and course support logistics in coordination with Learning Support leadership
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent mix of experience and education (High school diploma or GED and 5 years of experience, or Associate's degree and 3 years of experience, directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified)
  • One (1+) plus year experience with administrative duties in an office environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office functions (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams), or equivalent (i.e., Google Workspace).
  • Thorough knowledge of video conferencing software functions and management.
  • Experience organizing materials for promotional or marketing outcomes (e.g., print, image, and/or video for web and social media platforms).
  • Experience with a learning management software (LMS) (i.e., D2L/Brightspace/Canvas) preferred.
  • Experience with creative software (e.g., image design software, photo editing, video editing) preferred.

The salary range of the grade for this position is $18.14 to $24.49 per hour (typical workweek is 37.5 hours). Compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate. Offers are based on multiple factors permitted by law, including but not limited to: budgetary considerations, job-related knowledge/skills, experience, market considerations, tenure and standing with the university (applicable to current employees), and internal equity.
