SUMMARY:
The Instructional Designer III role is instrumental in supporting Mutual Bancorp and our family of banks' culture of continuous learning and employees' professional development, as well as change (e.g., new systems, procedures, products, regulations). Under the guidance of the Learning and Development Manager, they are responsible for the design, creation, and implementation of eLearning, instructor-led training, and interactive and engaging learning resources to create pathways for employee success.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following tasks are performed under supervision of the Learning & Development Manager with minimal coaching:
  1. Partner with senior stakeholders and subject matter experts to lead various analyses (e.g., content analyses, job/task analyses, gap analyses, needs assessments, best practice analysis - to identify primary and secondary target audiences and define clear and detailed learning objectives. Outline complete training solutions that effectively meet the identified needs, including strategies to measure success.
  2. Apply cutting edge instructional design and learning theory and practices to design complete engaging learning and performance support solutions. Your design should push the limits of the tools and result in new models others can follow in future efforts.
  3. Coach others in design of learning and performance solutions in alignment with current theory and best practices.
  4. Demonstrate mastery in authoring tools - including Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Articulate Storyline, Engageware, Camtasia - to develop interactive and engaging learning solutions - including Instructor-Led Training, eLearning, and Knowledge Support resources.
  5. Build models and templates in various development tools.
  6. Perform complex image and video editing in Photoshop and Premiere Pro.
  7. Discover new and innovative ways to leverage AI tools to accelerate content development, personalize learning experience, and enable instructional design workflows.
  8. Lead testing, implementation, and rollout of training programs and performance support solutions.
  9. Perform quality checks to ensure accuracy, consistency, and usability of learning and performance support materials.
  10. Create instructionally sound innovative and engaging assessment strategies based on learning objectives to evaluate learners' achievement of objectives and build these in to learning solutions - including designing and developing quizzes and exams, role plays, simulations, Facilitator "knowledge checks," games, observations, surveys, and focus groups.
  11. Capture, consolidate, and interpret data and feedback to determine impact of learning and performance support / knowledge management interventions to the organization. Report findings, along with recommended next steps.
  12. Conduct lessons learned sessions to determine opportunities for improvements to Learning & Development's tools, models, procedures, and practices. Report the findings to the Learning & Development Manager and Director of Learning & Development.
  13. Provide basic coaching to Instructional Designer Level I and II's in all aspects of designing and creating learning solutions.
  14. Design, develop, and conduct in-service training sessions, workshops, "lunch and learns," webinars, white papers, etc.
  15. Manage multiple projects - creating projects in tracking system; tracking and reporting progress; identifying, tracking, and resolving issues; providing reports and briefings - on own projects, as well as team projects.
  16. Remain informed on instructional design best practices, continuously build knowledge and skills in current and potential tools and technologies.
  17. Contribute to the Learning & Development Team's Body of Knowledge - including articles, white papers, demos, models, and presentations.

QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS: (Minimum education required to perform the duties of this position)
  • BA/BS required, ideally in Business, Finance, Training, English, Communications, Instructional Design, or Education. Master's degree preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Minimum 4 years' experience in instructional design.
  • The Instructional Designer III should be able to do the following with light coaching and/or supervision & guidance:
    • Apply best practices in adult learning theory in the design of web-based and instructor-led training.
    • Conduct analyses using multiple data collection methodologies (e.g., observation, survey, interview, focus group).
    • Design and create well-structured and engaging instructional materials.
    • Write print materials (facilitator guides, learner guides, workbooks, job aids, etc.).
    • Design and create online materials (screen text, online procedures, interactive job aids and knowledge support tools).
    • Create well-designed online training screens and interactions.
    • Collaborate with other designers to create engaging training interventions.
    • Apply best practices in design of Instructor-Led Training (ILT) (e.g., lecture, presentation, leading discussion, steering problem-based learning, brainstorming, reflecting, redirecting, leveraging open and closed-ended questions, resolving classroom conflict, coaching).
    • Manage time effectively across one or two projects and tasks.
    • Build effective relationships with subject matter experts, top performers, and managers across multiple levels within the bank.
    • Quickly come up to speed with knowledge of the financial industry, if needed.
  • Use a Windows-based PC at an expert-level
  • High level knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint required.
  • High level knowledge of Adobe Photoshop or similar tool, and authoring tools such as articulate Storyline, Camtasia, Enageware required.
  • Mid-level or higher mastery of SharePoint preferred but not required.
