Sr. Manager of Advanced Development (ANDERSON,SC)
Team Overview
Floorcare's US Advanced Development is responsible for shaping the future of the wet floorcare product technology portfolio by working from identified market opportunities and user needs to define new product concepts, technologies, and system architectures. The team operates upstream of New Product Development, focusing on first principles thinking, rapid learning and early de-risking of innovations.
The Advanced Development team works in close partnership with Product Management and Consumer Insights to ensure development activity is market led and strategically aligned. The team also collaborates at a global level across the wider TTI group. This includes peer teams in the UK, maximizing platform leverage, sharing technologies, and creating architectural coherence in the floorcare range.
The Sr. Manager of Advanced Development will lead the US function day to day. The role is accountable for the delivery and execution of the Advanced Development Roadmap, translating direction set by the Director of Global Advanced Development into action. Owning prioritization, pace, and quality of output, ensuring advanced concepts progress efficiently towards decision-ready outcomes.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Own the day to day execution of Advanced Development activity across the wet floorcare portfolio.
  • Translate strategic direction into clear plans, priorities, and action for the Advanced Development team.
  • Lead and Manage the Advanced Development team on a day to day basis, setting priorities, allocating work and maintaining pace.
  • Deliver the advanced development roadmap in collaboration with Product Management and Consumer Insights.
  • Translate market opportunities into clear development briefs, hypotheses, and learning objectives.
  • Identify, generate, and evaluate technology options to address defined market needs.
  • Drive collaboration between Advanced Development, Industrial Design and Electrical Engineering to synthesize concepts which create compelling product experiences.
  • Provide strong system level and architectural direction without owning the detailed execution.
  • Lead a multi-disciplinary team spanning mechanical, design engineering, analytical and subject matter experts (CFD & NVH).
  • Ensure appropriate use of analysis and simulations (CFD, NVH, FEA, Data led methodology) to generate rapid insights and enhance delivery speed.
  • Proactively manage and communicate tradeoffs across performance, cost, timing, quality and regulatory considerations.
  • Maintain awareness of global regulations and emerging standards, providing recommendations on potential impact to future projects and technologies.
  • Communicate progress, risks, and decisions clearly through concise, executive ready updates.
  • Create compelling narratives and visualizations that support stakeholder alignment and decision making.
  • Mentor and develop engineers to operate with greater ownership, pace and entrepreneurial mindsets.
  • Collaborate globally across dry and wet floorcare teams and the broader group to maximize platform and technology leverage.
  • Support the structured transition of mature concepts into New Product Development.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical or Aerospace) or a related engineering field, Product design etc.
  • 7+ Years experience in product development within consumer products, including significant time in advanced or early-stage development (innovation).
  • 3+ Years experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams, including design, mechanical and analytical engineering disciplines.
  • Strong system level engineering background with exposure across multiple product development cycles.
  • Experience working with or leading teams applying advanced analytical approaches such as CFD, NVH, FEA and data driven or machine learning based approaches.
  • Experience owning or shaping development roadmaps in partnership with Product Management and Insights teams.
  • Strong track record of translating ambiguity into structured recommendations and decision ready proposals.
  • Experience managing tradeoffs across time, cost, spec, quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Working knowledge of global regulations and standards relevant to consumer products, with experience considering impact in early technology development.
  • Proven ability to influence senior and executive level stakeholders through clear, concise and compelling communication.
  • Strong storytelling capability, able to bring concepts and strategies to life while distilling complexity into exec friendly updates.
  • Clear bias toward action, learning and momentum, balanced with sound engineering judgement.
  • Confident decision maker in ambiguous environments, able to progress work with incomplete information.
  • Natural conceptual thinker who connects the dots between market opportunities, technology possibility and product experience.
