Job Purpose:

The Business Development Trainee Program is a comprehensive 2-year training program designed to develop the future business development executives of JX Enterprises. Primarily focused on a future in proactive sales of our brands and services, you will be provided with the experience, skills, and tools necessary to solve client business and transportation challenges with JX's value-added solutions.


Participants are given exposure to the entire organization through a three-phase curriculum:

  • JX Dealership Rotation (3 Months): Introduction into day-to-day operations and customer engagement, focusing specifically on our Parts and Service departments.
  • Business & Enterprise Learning (15 Months): Immersive, hands-on experience acting in foundational customer facing roles such as rental sales, parts, service, lead generation activities, event planning, and other sales support roles. This phase also includes job shadowing as well as specific management tasks.
  • Growth Activities & Prospecting (6 Months): Focused application of sales skills to find leads and improve data integrity across Rental, Used Truck, New Truck, Lease, Parts, and Service divisions.

Placement & Transition:

Six months prior to the conclusion of the program, we will collaborate with you to identify and secure a permanent position within the organization that aligns with your developed skill set and current business needs. This may include possibilities of working at any of our 25 locations. 


Promotion:

Upon successful completion of the training, presentations, and core competencies, the Trainee will be promoted to a Business Development Representative (BDR). As a BDR, you will be responsible for developing new retail business for all areas of our business, owning the full sales cycle for In-Stock New/Used Trucks, Parts, and Service, and utilizing tools like TMI (SmartSpec). 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Successful completion of training requirements: Progress through the established phases (Dealership Rotation, Business/Enterprise Learning, and Prospecting) within the 1.25 to 2.5-year timeline.
  • Skill Development: Master core business competencies including Presentations, Customer Service, Communication, Basics of Prospecting and Selling, Needs Analysis, Closing, and Solutioning.
  • Operational Integration: Learn day-to-day operations and customer engagement protocols within the Parts and Service departments.
  • Role Immersion: Take on responsibilities in foundational positions (e.g., Rental Sales, Sales Support Specialist) and shadow existing Sales/Ops experts to learn enterprise software (CRM, SmartSpec) and customer management.
  • Growth & Prospecting: Under the direction of your mentors and the Business Development management team, identify potential customers, generate cross-departmental leads, and improve data integrity within company systems.
  • Market Strategy: Work with sales, leasing, and rental staff to coordinate product demos, make customer calls, and increase overall JX market penetration.
  • Perform additional duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Associate's degree preferred in business, marketing, transportation, engineering, or a related field.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing, over the phone, and in person.
  • Comfortable soliciting new business and meeting new people.
  • Disciplined, with good organizational and time management skills.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% with overnight stays within our multi-state service territory.
  • Intermediate experience with CRM systems and Google Drive preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required; Commercial driver's license (CDL) preferred or the ability and willingness to obtain a CDL.
  • Dependable and reliable attendance required.
  • Intermediate computer skills.
