Learning And Development information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Learning and Development professional, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Learning and Development professional, you need expertise in instructional design, adult learning theory, and strong facilitation skills, often supported by a degree in education, human resources, or related fields. Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS), e-learning authoring tools, and relevant certifications such as CPLP or SHRM-CP is highly valuable. Excellent communication, creativity, and stakeholder management skills help professionals engage learners and drive organizational development. These competencies ensure effective training initiatives that support talent growth and align learning strategies with business goals.

How does a Learning and Development professional typically collaborate with other departments to identify training needs?

Learning and Development professionals often work closely with managers and team leads across various departments to assess skill gaps and align training initiatives with organizational goals. This collaboration usually involves conducting needs assessments, gathering feedback through surveys or interviews, and reviewing performance data to design targeted programs. Effective communication and relationship-building skills are essential, as L&D professionals must balance the needs of different teams while ensuring training solutions are practical and impactful.

What is learning and development (L&D)?

Learning and development (L&D) refers to the process within organizations that focuses on improving employees’ skills, knowledge, and competencies. L&D involves designing, delivering, and evaluating training programs, workshops, and other educational activities to help employees perform better in their current roles and prepare for future responsibilities. The goal is to foster professional growth, enhance job satisfaction, and contribute to organizational success. L&D can include onboarding, technical training, leadership development, and ongoing education tailored to business needs.

Maya HTT is at the forefront of innovation technology. Our team delivers extensive engineering and CAE simulation expertise along with cutting-edge digitalization solutions, such as AI, machine learning, IIoT, operational technologies, and Industry 4.0.
Role Summary:
The AI Development Team Lead leads a multidisciplinary team delivering production-grade AI solutions for industrial and manufacturing environments, including telemetry analytics, machine vision, inspection systems, and data-driven optimization. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with team leadership and project execution, requiring a pragmatic leader who can bridge advanced AI innovation with real-world industrial constraints while driving delivery excellence and client value.
What to expect as your main responsibilities:
  • Architect and oversee development of end-to-end AI solutions (from model development to deployment to on-going monitoring) in industrial environments.
  • Lead and mentor a team of AI/ML developers/engineers, computer vision specialists, and frontend/backend software developers; enforce best practices in MLOps, code quality, and system reliability.
  • Drive industrial IP-building initiatives for modular technology "bricks" creation (e.g., defect detection engine, quality inspection, object tracking, forecasting modules) using state-of-the-art deep learning and classical techniques where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to translate operational problems into scalable AI solutions with measurable ROI.
  • Manage project delivery: scope definition, technical roadmaps, and deployment risk mitigation.
  • Ensure robust deployment in constrained/edge environments (latency, hardware, lighting variability, data drift, dirty environments, etc.).
  • Stay current with advancements in industrial AI, vision models, and deployment frameworks, and guide technology selection.
Core Qualifications:
  • Strong background in deep learning (e.g., CNNs, transformers, detection/segmentation models).
  • Excellent communication skills in French and English (The position requires regular interaction with colleagues, suppliers and customers based outside of Quebec, nationally and internationally).
  • Experience deploying AI systems in production, ideally in industrial or manufacturing settings.
  • Proficiency with relevant stacks (Python, PyTorch/TensorFlow, OpenCV, edge deployment frameworks).
  • Solid understanding of MLOps, data pipelines, and system integration (APIs, PLCs, MES/SCADA systems).
  • Proven leadership experience managing highly technical teams and delivering complex projects.
Why join Maya HTT?
  • Flex Working Hours and Hybrid Work. Office downtown Montreal, 2-minute walk from Atwater Metro.
