Job description

Job Title
Learning and Development Specialist
Job Description
We're looking for a Learning & Development Specialist to design, deliver, and elevate how people grow at Axis across the Americas. You'll turn talent strategy into real, measurable learning experiences that move the business forward. This is an in-office position located in our Chelmsford, MA office. Relocation is not offered for this position.
Who is your future team?
You'll be joining the Americas HR team - group of 20 HR professionals who cover the full employee lifecycle for the US, Canada and Latin America. The team is organized into four centers of excellence: HR Business Partnering, Talent Acquisition, HR Operations and Learning & Development. Each pillar works in close partnership, sharing data, insights, and a shared belief that great HR is invisible when it works and unforgettable when it doesn't.
We believe that great learning design is part art, part science, and entirely human. As the L&D Specialist for the Americas, you'll report to the Head of HR for the Americas with close day-to-day collaboration with the rest of the Americas HR team and our colleagues in Sweden. The most important thing to this team? Impact you can measure.
What you'll do here
This role is the architect of how people develop at Axis across the Americas. Without it, we risk misaligned talent pipelines, inconsistent leadership capability, and a learning culture that lags behind our growth. You'll bridge global strategy with local execution - turning big ideas into programs that work in the real world, for real people.
  • Lead end-to-end design and delivery of Americas-wide learning programs - from leadership development and onboarding to succession planning and performance training.
  • Build blended learning solutions that meet people where they are: e-learning, virtual instructor-led sessions, microlearning, and cohort experiences.
  • Run comprehensive needs assessments and translate findings into actionable L&D roadmaps with measurable KPIs
  • Own the Workday LMS strategy for the Americas - including content architecture, reporting, and continuous improvement
  • Establish measurement frameworks (Kirkpatrick, Phillips ROI) and present data-driven insights to senior leadership
  • Partner with business leaders, HRBPs, and external vendors to co-develop solutions that address real talent gaps
  • Explore and implement emerging learning technologies - AI-driven personalization, adaptive platforms, and generative AI tools - to keep the learner experience ahead of the curve

Who are you?
You're someone who gets energized by complexity - by the challenge of translating business strategy into learning that actually sticks. You're as comfortable presenting to the C-suite as you are facilitating a cohort workshop, and you bring rigorous analytical thinking alongside genuine warmth for the people you develop. Like every person at Axis, you're curious, candid, and committed to doing great work - even when the path isn't perfectly laid out.
In addition to experience in the areas listed above, we're looking for someone who:
  • Connects talent strategy to business outcomes without losing sight of the human experience
  • Leads with data - but knows that a great story lands harder than a spreadsheet alone
  • Brings a genuine curiosity about emerging technology, especially the role AI plays in personalizing and scaling learning.
  • Manages competing priorities with calm, organization, and a bias toward action

We'd love to hear that you have:
  • A Bachelor's degree in HR, OD or related
  • 6-8 years of progressive HR or talent experience, with at least 4 years in a dedicated L&D, OD, or talent management role
  • Demonstrated track record of owning and delivering enterprise-wide learning programs with measurable business impact.
  • Working knowledge of LMS platforms - Workday Learning Cornerstone, SAP SuccessFactors, or similar
  • Proven ability to influence and partner with senior leadership on workforce strategy

Bonus points for:
  • Familiarity with AI tools applied to learning - adaptive platforms, generative content tools, or predictive skill analytics.
  • Any combination of CPTD certification (ATD) or equivalent credentials

Physical Demands and Travel
Occasionally required to lift 20-25 lbs. Travel (local and international) up to 25% annually
What Axis has to offer
Axis is more than a fantastic culture with cutting-edge innovation. Axis is a company that puts our employees first. Here's just a glimpse of what we do for our Axians:
  • Inspire you to grow and develop through employer-offered training as well as tuition reimbursement
  • Take care of more than just the 'work you', but rather the 'whole you' through our health, dental, vision, fitness, health & wellness programs
  • Encourage work/life balance with a generous vacation policy - not to mention our paid sabbatical program at each 5-year anniversary, allowing you to relax and unwind for an extended period of time
  • Help in preparing for your life during retirement through our retirement plan.
  • Target compensation in the $110 - $120 range
