WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON:
  • Responsible for directing and coordinating all AI/ML and algorithm development activities necessary to deliver AI-enabled products and platform technologies.
  • Define and execute the AI/ML technology strategy aligned with divisional and corporate objectives.
  • Lead teams developing machine learning, deep learning, signal processing, computer vision, predictive analytics, foundation model, generative AI and decision-support algorithms.
  • Lead R&D projects from requirements, specifications, system architecture, risk management, verification, validation, regulatory approval and commercialization.
  • Establish best practices for model development, data governance, explainability, bias mitigation, MLOps, cybersecurity and lifecycle management.
  • Partner with systems, software, clinical, quality, regulatory and business leaders to integrate AI and other algorithm capabilities into products.
  • Proactively translate strategic organizational needs into AI programs that de-risk development and create competitive advantage.
  • Build and lead an innovation engine that combines rapid prototyping, physician co-creation, and AI/ML research to accelerate the identification, maturation, and validation of breakthrough technologies for electrophysiology applications.
  • Foster a culture of rapid experimentation, learning, and customer engagement by partnering directly with physicians and clinical experts to evaluate concepts, de-risk technology investments, and guide product development decisions.
  • Advance engineering expertise across functions and provide expert technical reviews to senior management.
  • Mentor technical leaders and build a culture of accountability, innovation, integrity and high performance.
  • Represent Abbott externally through publications, conferences, standards organizations and strategic partnerships.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's or M.S. degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Statistics or related field.
  • 10-15 years of technical leadership experience with at least 5 years in a senior management role.
  • Demonstrated success building and leading high-performance algorithm development organizations in regulated industries.
  • Recognized expertise in AI/ML algorithm development and deployment of commercial products.
  • Extensive knowledge of product development processes from concepts through launch and lifecycle management.
  • Experience with Software as a Medical Device (SaMD), AI/ML-enabled medical devices, or adjacent regulated technologies preferred.
  • Proven ability to work across cross-functional teams and provide technical leadership.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation and executive communication skills.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.

Preferred Qualifications and Education:
  • Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Biomed Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or related discipline.
  • Experience with FDA, EU MDR and emerging AI/ML regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience developing foundation models, generative AI solutions and advanced analytics platforms.
  • Strong publication, patent, conference presentation, or industry leadership record.
  • Healthcare, electrophysiology, diagnostics, cardiovascular or digital health experience.
