The Clinical Director may serve as department head in the absence of the hospital Psychology Administrator or as the Acting Director of ACPTC in the absence of the Director of ACPTC. Directs all psychological services provided in the ACPTC; consults with administrators of other disciplines, develops and revises treatment and educational programs; determines and sets goals and requirements; participates in development of policies; serves on a variety of committees; writes reports, memorandums and correspondences. This position oversees and provides therapeutic interventions and assessment services to residents; may provide consultation services to hospital staff; supervises staff that may include psychologists, therapists, social workers, rehabilitation staff, interns and students; assigns work, schedules staff, approves leave and completes performance appraisals; recommends staff hires, disciplinary actions and dismissals; provides assistance and direction in the treatment planning process and consultation to colleagues in the implementation of treatment; supervises and provides educational training for multidisciplinary students; ensures staff maintain competencies. Reads and studies professional literature and informational material in order to increase and expand knowledge base as an administrator; such material deals with theoretical or conceptual bases of knowledge in the specified field of psychosexual treatment services as well as concentrating on techniques of leadership in the field of psychology. Ensures compliance with all licensing requirements related to psychology. Performs related work and other duties as required.
- Directs all psychological services provided in the ACPTC; consults with administrators of other disciplines, develops and revises treatment and educational programs; determines and sets goals and requirements; writes reports, memorandums and correspondences.
- Supervision of staff that may include psychologists, therapists, social workers, rehabilitation staff, interns and students; this includes assigning work, staff schedules, approves leave and completes performance appraisals; recommends staff hires, and disciplinary actions. Ensures staff maintain competencies.
- Develops and revises treatment and educational programs. Consults with and/or trains other staff regarding cases, treatment and treatment planning, diagnoses, and prioritizing of treatment goals.
- Interviews, administers, and interprets psychological tests, and writes reports setting forth diagnostic impressions, prognoses, and treatment approaches (may also assign others to complete these tasks).
- Participates in development of policies; serves on a variety of committees; Ensures compliance with all licensing requirements related to psychology.
- Reads and studies professional literature and informational material in order to increase and expand knowledge base as an administrator; such material deals with theoretical or conceptual bases of knowledge in the specified field of psychosexual treatment services as well as concentrating on techniques of leadership in the field of psychology. Ensures compliance with all licensing requirements related to psychology.

Knowledge of:

- Methods and techniques and psychological and psychosexual assessment.
- Human relations and behavior; internal, community and national standards of psychological treatment and psychological practices.
Skill in:
- Effective oral and written communication.- Assessing, diagnosing, and treating psychiatric patients and their families.- Supervising and managing people.
- Leadership and interpersonal relations.
- Analysis and solution to administrative-level problems specific ACPTC.
- Assessment and evaluation of psychological and psychosexual treatment/service programs. .
- Development of methodology and approach to improve the quality of care and training specific to the ACPTC.
Ability to:
- Organize and plan a variety of tasks (i.e., training, planning and implementing treatment and assessment procedures).- Maintain effective working relationships with staff.
- Supervise and provide clinical and technical oversight/evaluation of professional and paraprofessional staff.
- Coordinate psychological treatment activities with other agency and hospital programs.
- Provide competent diagnosis, care and treatment for mentally ill individuals in the area of psychological services.
At least 1 year of experience supervising junior psychology/social work/allied health professionals. At least 1 year of experience as a practicing psychologist. Exposure to forensic psychiatry/psychology patients.
Requires possession of and ability to retain a current license as a Psychologist in Arizona as issued by the Arizona Board of Psychologist Examiners. PhD or PsyD Required.
A state Hospital employee must be able to obtain a valid Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card pursuant to A.R.S. 41-1758.07.
Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver's license appropriate to the assignment.
Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (See Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).
Required within 30 calendar days of appointment: Must be eligible and apply to the State Board of Psychologist Examiners for certification as a psychologist in the State of Arizona. Must receive certification by the State Board of Psychologist Examiners within one year of appointment.
Required for continuing employment: Must receive an affirmative evaluation of credentials by the State Board of Psychologist Examiners within 90 calendar days after appointment.
If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job to conduct State business, then the following requirements apply: Driver's License Requirements.
