Job Summary

Schaeffer Industries, located in Lindon, Utah, is a leading producer of steel pipe and tube and roll-formed products. Schaeffer is looking for a hands-on, results-driven Plant Manager to oversee its manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will possess extensive and practical knowledge of pipe/tube mills, roll-formers, slitting equipment and related machinery, with a proven track record of optimizing yields, driving continuous improvement, and managing shop employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hands-on Oversight: Lead daily production activities with a thorough working knowledge of steel product manufacturing equipment.
  • Production & Efficiency: Prepare production schedules and daily operating reports to optimize productivity and minimize downtime.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Direct maintenance personnel to perform preventative maintenance and resolve complex machinery failures.
  • Safety & Compliance: Promote a safety-first culture, ensuring compliance with safety standards and internal operational protocols.
  • Team Leadership: Train, coach, and evaluate production staff to foster a performance-based culture centered on accountability and teamwork.
  • Continuous Improvement: Implement lean manufacturing initiatives and best practices to improve throughput, quality control, and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 5+years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience, specifically within the steel product manufacturing industry.
  • Technical Expertise: prefer hands-on, working knowledge of:
    • Pipe and tube mills
    • Slitting machinery
    • Roll-forming equipment
    • Tooling changeovers and equipment maintenance
  • Education: Manufacturing/industrial training is preferred.
  • Skills: Must be proficient in MS Office, specifically Excel, and possess strong skills in problem-solving, strategic planning, and employee relations.
  • Mindset: A hands-on leader who is comfortable spending time on the shop floor to drive results.
