YOUR ROLE
As an IT team member, you'll play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and managing technology solutions that are the foundation of the world class customer service that our customers expect and deserve - now and in the future.
The Manager, Virtualization & Digital Workspace Platforms is responsible for leading a small team of engineers supporting Genworth's virtual desktop infrastructure, application delivery, cloud-hosted desktop services, and virtualization platforms. This role provides both technical leadership and people leadership, ensuring the environment remains secure, resilient, cost-effective, and aligned with business objectives.
We are seeking a technical leader who can effectively balance engineering expertise with people leadership. This individual will lead a small team responsible for virtualization and end user computing platforms while remaining actively engaged in architecture, technical strategy, and major incident resolution. The successful candidate will bring deep experience in Azure cloud technologies, Citrix VDI and application delivery platforms, and modern virtualization solutions, coupled with the ability to coach and develop talent, influence stakeholders, and drive continuous improvement across the environment.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with proven leadership skills and thrives in a hands-on environment where collaboration, innovation, and customer experience are paramount.
What you will be doing
Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of virtualization and cloud engineers.
  • Establish team priorities, goals, and performance expectations aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, continuous improvement, and customer focus.
  • Support career development through coaching, training, certifications, and growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, networking, security, application, and architecture teams to deliver enterprise solutions.

Platform Ownership & Strategy
  • Own the strategy, roadmap, lifecycle management, and operational support of Genworth's virtual desktop and application delivery platforms.
  • Lead administration and optimization of Citrix Cloud, Citrix DaaS, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD), Azure-hosted VDI environments, and related end user computing technologies.
  • Support the evolution of Genworth's virtualization strategy, including cloud-hosted desktop services, Citrix-managed infrastructure offerings, and emerging virtual workspace technologies.
  • Evaluate new technologies and drive modernization initiatives that improve employee experience, platform reliability, security, and operational efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain technology roadmaps aligned with business and IT strategic objectives.

Technical Operations
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of virtualization and application delivery platforms.
  • Ensure platform availability, performance, scalability, and resiliency through proactive monitoring and management.
  • Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and problem management efforts for critical platform issues.
  • Act as a senior escalation point for complex technical challenges.
  • Ensure disaster recovery, business continuity, and backup strategies are maintained and tested.
  • Partner with cybersecurity teams to maintain compliance with security standards, regulatory requirements, and vulnerability management processes.

Cloud & Infrastructure Management
  • Manage Azure-based infrastructure supporting virtual desktop and application workloads.
  • Drive cloud optimization initiatives focused on scalability, performance, governance, and cost management.
  • Identify opportunities for automation using PowerShell, infrastructure-as-code, and cloud-native tools.
  • Partner with architecture teams to design scalable and secure solutions that meet future business needs.

Vendor & Financial Management
  • Manage vendor relationships, licensing agreements, support contracts, and service providers.
  • Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies and cost optimization across virtualization and cloud platforms.
  • Support business case development and technology investment planning.

What You Bring
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 7+ years of experience supporting enterprise virtualization and cloud technologies.
  • 3+ years of experience leading technical teams, projects, or infrastructure operations.
  • Strong experience with:
    • Citrix Cloud
    • Citrix DaaS
    • Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD)
    • XenApp and/or XenDesktop
    • Microsoft Azure
    • Windows Server
    • Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID
    • Application virtualization technologies
    • Enterprise infrastructure operations
  • Experience operating highly available, mission-critical infrastructure environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting, performance tuning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, influence stakeholders, and drive strategic initiatives.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
National Range: $120,900 - $187,000
Disclaimer: This role is aligned to a national market-based pay range. Actual compensation will vary based on geographic location, experience, skills, and other job-related factors. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible to participate in a bonus incentive plan. Incentive compensation is based on individual and company performance and is not guaranteed.
