Job description

The Senior Business Consultant - Technical Lead (Student) will provide technical leadership, training, process improvement, and consulting for Professional Services employees in the Student module area as well as provide technical and functional consulting/problem resolution for Jenzabar One clients.
This position requires a solid understanding of the Professional Services' processes and procedures, a solid understanding of Student Information Systems (particularly in Admissions, Registration, Advising, and Student Life), and a general understanding of higher education regulations, requirements and policies associated with key student-based offices. The area of expertise required is Student, though work is not limited to that specific module area.
The Consultant must be proactive, self-starting, professional and able to do some travel. This position requires the ability to manage individual relationships and will also work in conjunction with all other levels of Business Consultants and Professional Services leadership.
Essential Tasks
  • Perform deep-dive analyses to resolve Student-related issues (e.g. repeats, advising trees, ARCs, etc.)
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills
  • Perform assigned project tasks with minimal supervision
  • Follow established methodology to meet project deliverables for all assigned tasks
  • Works proactively and cooperatively in a team environment to accomplish project deliverables within defined schedule
  • Communicate information clearly, accurately and timely to project team members
  • Work with Professional Services and Project Management Office to provide resolution and support for complex issues
  • Provide coaching and technical training in data validation, reporting, and how data flows through the student and finance modules as well as other areas as appropriate
  • Maintain and share a repository of process and training documentation
  • Gaining a sound understanding and knowledge of the customer's requirements and capabilities and recommending best practices
  • Understanding the customer business processes related to the solution
  • Must have excellent follow-up skills, provide detailed documentation, and be able to work effectively and independently
  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Stay abreast with business trends and technologies
  • Collaborate with Project Manager in executing assigned projects
  • Develop estimates based on the customization specifications
  • Recognize potential solutions to a business problem to ensure the best alternative is selected for the client within project scope
  • Leverage AI-enabled tools and analytics to enhance decision-making, improve efficiency, and drive measurable business outcomes when appropriate.
  • Apply sound judgment and ethical standards when using AI, ensuring accuracy, data privacy, and responsible human-in-the-loop oversight.
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Skills and Experience
  • BS, BA Degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years' experience (at least 4 years must be in Higher Education).
  • Experience with Jenzabar's J1 Student Information System/ERP, with identifiable experience with Student area such as Admissions, Registrar, Advising, and Student Life
  • Experience across a range of higher end functions or offices
  • Advanced SQL programming skills
  • Ability to work effectively and thrive in a fast paced/high stress environment
  • Prior training delivery experience desired
  • Comfort level with evolving and ever-changing technology
  • Ability to translate technical complex concepts to functional end users
  • Software troubleshooting skills required
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Proven effective listening skills.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting presentations, conducting one-on-one and/or on-the-job training, classroom training and/or online/webcast training

The pay range for this position is $65,000-$78,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, geographic location, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for an annual bonus in addition to a full range of benefits. This information is provided per the relevant state and local pay transparency laws for the location in which this position will be performed.
