About the Role

The Student Success Advisor (SSA) plays a critical role in shaping the student experience at Verto Education. SSAs create an inclusive, supportive environment that promotes academic success, personal growth, and engagement with Vertos core values: compassion, transformation, vulnerability, and responsibility.

In this role, you will mentor a cohort of approximately 3035 students, providing holistic support across academic, personal, and community dimensions. You will act as a key resource for students while collaborating closely with academic and student life teams to ensure a high-quality, cohesive experience.

What Youll Be Doing

Student Success & Academic Support

  • Monitor student academic engagement, attendance, and performance, intervening when needed
  • Provide first-level academic advising and escalate complex concerns appropriately
  • Support students in developing effective study habits and academic skills
  • Guide students through academic processes (add/drop, withdrawals, accommodations)
  • Advise on academic policies (attendance, integrity, grading, etc.)
  • Support students in post-Verto planning and understanding transfer pathways
  • Collaborate with academic staff to support student success outcomes
  • Maintain accurate academic records and reporting

Community Building & Student Engagement

  • Foster an inclusive, student-centered community environment
  • Lead Care Team initiatives, including regular meetings and monthly gatherings
  • Implement Verto Discovery programming and student engagement activities
  • Support student leadership and club initiatives
  • Maintain a visible, approachable presence through office hours and campus engagement
  • Educate students on policies, expectations, and community standards
  • Build strong relationships with students, staff, and faculty

Administration & Operations

  • Participate in meetings, trainings, and internal coordination processes
  • Manage time effectively across student-facing and administrative responsibilities
  • Use internal systems (Salesforce, Maxient, Canvas, etc.) effectively
  • Track and document student progress, interventions, and outcomes
  • Complete required reports and administrative tasks accurately and on time
  • Conduct wellbeing checks and support health & safety processes when required

Duty of Care & Crisis Response

  • Participate in an on-call rotation supporting student needs, including after hours
  • Respond to emergencies and incidents in line with established protocols
  • Support conduct processes and follow up with students as needed
  • Make appropriate referrals (counselling, medical, academic support, etc.)
  • Document incidents clearly and accurately
  • Support conflict resolution and community wellbeing

What Were Looking For

Must-have:

  • Fluency in English
  • Ability to work on-site in Seville
  • 13 years of experience in a student-facing role (higher education or youth-focused)
  • Bachelors degree (or equivalent)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport
  • Demonstrated ability to support, mentor, and guide students
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • High level of autonomy, initiative, and accountability
  • Comfort using digital tools and systems (Google Workspace, learning platforms, CRM systems)

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience in education abroad or international education settings
  • Background in student advising, mentoring, or coaching
  • Familiarity with academic policies and student support systems
  • Experience working with diverse, international student populations

Compensation

At Verto, base salary is one part of your total compensation package.

Final base pay will depend on your location (aligned to Vertos compensation regions), as well as your experience, skills, and relevant qualifications. Your recruiter or hiring manager can share the specific range for your location during the hiring process.
