L3Harris is searching for a Manufacturing Engineer to support the business Agile Development Group at the Plano/Richardson Texas sites. This role is responsible for solving manufacturing problems with innovative solutions and driving continuous improvement in our manufacturing processes. In this role, you will be a key part of the Integrated Product Team to develop and execute manufacturing plans. You will also be collaborating with other engineering disciplines, program management, quality assurance, and manufacturing.

In this role, you will be a part of the Agile Development Group, which is a division that specializes in developing disruptive, next-generation technologies for advanced Unmanned Air Systems (UAS / UAV), advanced radar systems, next-generation weapon systems, and other RF sensor technologies using small company agility and big company experience.

ย 

Essential Functions:

ย 

  • Provide technical input on product designs for manufacturing ease and cost considerations. This includes analyzing different design approaches and manufacturing methods.
  • Examine early assembly prototyping/testing to provide feedback in the design process.
  • Identify and justify capital equipment needs for capacity and capability expansion.
  • Frequently responsible for managing large, complex project initiatives of strategic importance to the organization, involving large cross-functional teams.
  • Provide technical mentorship for team in areas of expertise.
  • Manages complex projects or processes with general oversight.
  • Initiate and review manufacturing workflow and processes/procedures such as:
    • Work/assembly instructions
    • Rework and modification instructions
    • Travelers/routers
    • Special process instructions
    • Standard repair instructions
  • Review and approve drawings for the Manufacturing Department (i.e. sign off authority).
  • ย Makes moderate to substantial improvements to systems and processes as needed.
  • Communicate information between the design and manufacturing teams and ensure that design feedback from manufacturing is relayed to engineering.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives in the organization such as 5S, Tool Control, etc.
  • Up to 5% travel may be required.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

ย 

  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 10 years of prior Manufacturing Engineering experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 8 years of prior Manufacturing Engineering experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 12 years of prior Manufacturing Engineering experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

ย 

  • Masters degree in relevant engineering field or related field and/or equivalent experience desiredย ย ย ย 
  • Experience and knowledge of manufacturing methods, specifically in composites, metals, and electronics.
  • Experience leading small teams
  • Experience with technical writing, specifically work instructions and process documentation.
  • Experience with CCA assemblies
  • Experience in aviation or military systems manufacturing
  • Experience with creating and presenting performance metrics.
  • Experience with Capital Equipment justification and BOEs
  • Experience using Microsoft Office productsย 
  • Excellent people skills to include collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, & presentation)
  • Experience in a 3D CAD software. Experience in Creo is preferred
