What is a lead manager?

A Lead Manager is a professional responsible for overseeing the process of capturing, tracking, and nurturing sales leads within an organization. Their main goal is to ensure that potential customers (leads) are properly managed from the initial point of contact through to conversion or sale. Lead Managers often coordinate with marketing and sales teams, utilize CRM software, and develop strategies to improve lead quality and conversion rates. They play a critical role in maximizing sales opportunities and supporting business growth.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a lead manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Lead Manager, you need strong leadership skills, project management experience, and a proven ability to coordinate teams, often supported by a bachelor's degree in business or a related field. Familiarity with project management tools like Asana or Trello, CRM systems, and relevant certifications such as PMP or Six Sigma are typically important. Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and motivational skills help a Lead Manager inspire teams and drive results. These competencies are crucial for effectively guiding projects, meeting organizational goals, and fostering team productivity.

How does a lead manager typically collaborate with sales and marketing teams to optimize lead conversion?

A Lead Manager plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between sales and marketing by ensuring that high-quality leads are efficiently nurtured and handed off at the right stage. This involves frequent coordination with marketing to refine lead qualification criteria and with sales to track conversion rates and feedback. Lead Managers often facilitate meetings, share analytics, and implement processes to ensure leads are followed up promptly, which helps improve overall conversion rates. Collaboration is ongoing, making strong communication and organizational skills essential for success in this role.

Tech Lead Manager (TLM) - Ads Experience

Roblox

San Mateo, CA • On-site

Full-time

Re-posted 12 days ago

Job description

With Roblox's daily active users growing at a record pace, we are building the next generation of advertising in an immersive metaverse. Our team sits at the core of the Roblox Ads ecosystem, serving billions of impressions while providing the critical infrastructure that connects global brands with our massive community of creators.

We are seeking a Tech Lead Manager (TLM) to drive the technical strategy and lead the execution of the Ads Experience team. This team is responsible for the full spectrum of our monetization experience, including Advertiser Experience (Roblox Ads Manager), Brand Experience (Brand Ads & Integrations), and Publisher Experience (Creator Monetization & Commerce).

This is a foundational leadership challenge beyond standard ad-tech. As a TLM, you will be responsible for both the technical vision of our high-scale monetization backbone and the growth and management of a high-performing engineering team. You will pioneer AI integration and balance a three-sided marketplace economy in real-time while fostering a culture of technical excellence.

You Will
  • Drive Technical Strategy: Act as the technical authority for the Ads Experience team. Translate ambitious business goals into multi-year technical roadmaps, ensuring our systems (Ads Manager, Brand Ads, and Creator tools) are scalable and future-proof.
  • Oversee System Architecture: Provide technical oversight for the end-to-end architecture of the Roblox Ads Manager, Brand Ads, and Creator Monetization. You will ensure these systems effectively handle complex forecasting, serving, and delivery while maintaining robust campaign management and real-time reporting at scale.
  • Innovate with AI: Spearhead the strategic application of AI across the ecosystem, including Gen AI for multi-modal creatives and intelligent assistants to empower our advertisers.
  • Lead & Manage: Build and lead a team of high-caliber software engineers. You will be responsible for hiring, performance management, career development, and fostering an inclusive, high-output team culture.
  • Execute & Deliver: Own the full software development lifecycle. Balance the need for rapid product iteration with long-term technical health, ensuring the team delivers high-quality features on schedule.
  • Partner Cross-Functionally: Collaborate deeply with Product Manager, Design, and Data Science to define the product vision. You will bridge the gap between business requirements and technical implementation.
You Have
  • 8+ years of software development experience, with 2+ years of experience in people management and a proven track record as a Technical Lead.
  • Deep understanding of the Ad Tech stack, including Campaign Management, Reporting, Creative, Ad Serving, Measurement, and Ad Delivery.
  • Strong background in distributed systems and high-availability backend services (Go, C#, or similar) and an understanding of modern frontend architectures (React/TypeScript).
  • A passion for mentoring engineers and a proven ability to manage performance, navigate complex organizational challenges, and build a cohesive team.
  • Experience driving engineering best practices, including code reviews, testing strategies, and incident management for high-scale systems.
  • The ability to think like a product owner while maintaining the technical rigor of a Principal Engineer.
  • BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
