Job Title: Lead Machine Operator
Schedule & Pay

  • Hours: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Lead Machine Operator to support daily production operations and lead operator teams on the manufacturing floor. The Lead Machine Operator serves as a technical expert and front-line leader responsible for coordinating production activities, supporting machine operators, and ensuring production, safety, and quality standards are consistently met.
While performing standard machine operator duties, the Lead Machine Operator will guide and support operator teams by assigning tasks, monitoring workflow, and helping resolve production issues. This role is ideal for a highly skilled machine operator who is ready to take on leadership responsibilities and help drive productivity within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Production Leadership & Team Coordination
  • Supervise and lead operator teams to ensure daily production goals and quality standards are achieved.
  • Assign employees to specific production lines or machines to maximize efficiency across operator teams.
  • Coordinate daily workflow, production schedules, and break rotations to maintain continuous operations.
  • Provide support and guidance to machine operators and helpers while maintaining a positive and productive team environment.

Machine Operation & Production Support
  • Perform standard machine operator duties including machine setup, operation, and monitoring of production equipment.
  • Fill in for other machine operators when needed to support workflow and minimize production delays.
  • Assist operator teams in troubleshooting machine performance and maintaining efficient production output.

Troubleshooting & Equipment Support
  • Serve as the first point of escalation for machine malfunctions or operational issues.
  • Perform advanced adjustments, calibrations, and troubleshooting to minimize downtime and maintain productivity.
  • Work closely with maintenance teams when complex mechanical issues arise.

Quality & Safety Compliance
  • Ensure all machine operator activities follow company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and quality standards.
  • Enforce workplace safety policies and OSHA guidelines to maintain a safe production environment.
  • Promote safe equipment operation and proper use of PPE among operator teams.

Requirements & Qualifications
Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of machine operator experience in a manufacturing or production environment
  • Previous experience leading or coordinating operator teams is preferred

Technical Skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and advanced machine operator knowledge
  • Familiarity with production equipment, tools, and forklifts (training provided)
  • Ability to read and interpret purchase orders, production schedules, and work instructions

Leadership Skills
  • Ability to effectively lead operator teams of 3-8 employees
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to provide direction, training, and support to new machine operators

Additional Requirements
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to read and write instructions and purchase orders
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
