Job Description Summary

The Lead Engineer executes development projects to meet financial, performance, and time-to-market goals. This role is expected to lead design, analysis, and project management tasks adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements. Additionally, this position will be responsible for several existing products in production, giving technical support for and trouble-shooting any issues with the assigned products. This role requires a strong technical background, leadership mindset and a high level of critical thinking and methodical problem solving.


Job Description Roles and Responsibilities

Lead the development of new high voltage dead-tank circuit breakers by providing expertise in the area of arc interruption as well as dielectric and power testing of our products


Utilize analytic and simulation software such as ANSYS to define key parameters for the design of interrupters with focus on alternative green gas technology


Prepare and present updates on projects to R&D leaders


Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure project milestones are met and the final product meets required specifications


Design components and subassemblies, working closely with designers/ draftsmen, ensuring manufacturability, ease of assembly, cost effectiveness, and quality


Plan and oversee type tests, according to IEEE and IEC standards, required to qualify circuit breakers and/or components, working in coordination with R&D Test Engineers


Take ownership of existing products, acting as technical support for other departments


Develop and execute action plans to respond to issues, problems, and any additional assigned tasks


Review and approve detailed engineering component and assembly drawings


Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks is consistent with engineering policies and procedures


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in Mechanical Engineering

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in high voltage product design, development and testing

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an Engineering position including experience with 3D CAD software (i.e. CREO, SolidWorks, Inventor)

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $98,400.00 and $164,000.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidateโ€™s experience, education, and skill set.
