Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Electrical Supervisor for immediate employment in the North Charleston, SC office. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects.
As an Electrical Supervisor, you will work on various designs of high-performance buildings within multiple sectors particularly in Federal DoD, and Industrial sectors.
This role will be an integral part of the AECOM's B+P Practice. We are seeking individuals with a passion for people management, technical expertise and interest in marketing and business development.
Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
  • Performs various management and leadership responsibilities for the Electrical Engineering Department. Has full responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating technical assignments.
  • Requires multi-disciplinary knowledge of engineering. Plans and develops engineering tasks concerned with unique or controversial problems. This involves exploration of a subject area, the definition of scope, and the selection of problems for investigation and development of novel concepts and approaches.
  • Maintains liaison with units within the organization and individuals inside and outside of the organization.
  • Build relationships with other electrical managers in the east region. Attends monthly meetings with the east region electrical managers to discuss project workload, standards, codes and staff utilization.
  • Responsible for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to the field.
  • Works under minimal supervision. Supervision received is essentially administrative with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.
  • Manages and coordinates a team of engineers and/or technicians to meet organizational objectives.
  • Acts as a Senior Engineer leading the design and engineering efforts for various projects.
  • Assist in business development activities.
  • Assist in proposal preparation in conjunction with the senior leadership of the office.
  • Writing reports for internal and external purposes based on findings.
  • Works cooperatively with managers and other employees to achieve company's mission.
  • Ensures discipline plans that are created meet overall project team requirements for project scope and schedule.
  • Stays current on codes and technologies appropriate to the electrical and life safety disciplines.
  • Ensures conformance with standards, established design practices, applicable codes, and technical adequacy of design and construction.
  • Develop designs within a BIM design environment.
  • Review junior team member's work for quality and recognition of training requirements.
  • Lead junior engineers in engineering design development and professional growth.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field plus 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education (i.e. - Associate's Degree in Engineering + 8 years of experience).
  • Due to the nature of this work, US Citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 6+ years of electrical design experience within a consulting or design-build firm.
  • Experience managing an Electrical Engineering Department is strongly preferred.
  • Presentation experience with clients.
  • Experience with Revit and AutoCAD based design projects.
  • Competent in all conventional aspects of electrical engineering and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation and modification of standard electrical engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Experience in the following markets: DoD and Industrial.
  • Experience with sustainable design.
  • Documented experience with advanced design, and aesthetically challenging design with high profile architecture firms.
