Summary/Job Scope:
We are seeking a Lead Driver Trainer to join our Ready-Mix Division. This position will be responsible for the training program for all Ready-Mix drivers. They will work with the driver trainers at each site in regard to new hire training or re-training of current employees.
Under the direction of the Operations Manager, this position is responsible for maintaining a safe work environment by enforcing and adhering to current safety processes to improve the overall safety culture of the company.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Train new drivers and assist other drivers on proper concrete mixing procedures. Including plant loading, mixing, visual inspection, plant communication and any other pertinent training required.
  • Train new drivers and assist other drivers in proper inspection of trucks for pre and post trip inspections, proper documentation and communication with maintenance staff.
  • Train new and other drivers on proper use of electronic equipment in the trucks. These items include eTicketing, cameras and tablets as well as proper protocol with dispatch communication.
  • Train new and other drivers on proper delivery procedures including but not limited to slump requirements, chute handling, truck placement, job-site protocol, and customer service.
  • Train new and assist other drivers on proper procedures for washing trucks, making block and any other related duties required for drivers.
  • Selects participating driver trainers into Driver Training Program. Consistently monitors performance of driver trainers and their interaction with drivers
  • Work as a liaison with operations in order to create a sense of teamwork
  • Post-accident/injury follow up with driver/safety to identify safety gaps. Any additional safety follow up and concerns identified by operations
  • Road test potential driver candidates.
  • Conduct all Smith System training requirements and additional ride-a-long training as needed.
  • Assist in developing and conducting annual refresher training.
  • Visits jobsites to assist in adherence to driver safety program.
  • Perform regular driver duties as needed
  • Assigned to projects as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Must possess excellent organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work well with all levels of employees within the corporation and outside contacts.
  • Ability to complete projects and duties as assigned in an accurate and timely fashion.
  • Experience improving and managing process improvements
  • Must possess valid NY CDL
  • Problem solving and decision-making skills, safety educational courses including OSHA and FMCSR requirements
  • Computer Skills, Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Three to five years' experience in safety, risk management or similar role, preferred.
  • Construction Industry experience preferred.
  • Prior managerial experience preferred.
