How does a Lead Craftsman typically balance hands-on work with supervising team members on a project?

A Lead Craftsman is often expected to split time between performing skilled trade tasks and overseeing the work of less experienced craftsmen. You'll provide guidance and ensure quality standards are met, while also managing workflow and resolving issues that arise on-site. This means you'll be both setting the example through your own craftsmanship and coaching others, making strong communication and leadership skills essential. Most projects require close collaboration with project managers, engineers, and other trades to ensure timelines and safety protocols are followed.

In the context of a Lead Craftsman or similar skilled trades, earning $1,000,000 annually is rare and typically involves owning a successful business, high-end custom projects, or specialized consulting. What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Lead Craftsman, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Lead Craftsman, you need advanced technical skills in your trade, project management abilities, and several years of hands-on experience, often supported by vocational training or certifications. Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills help in supervising teams and ensuring quality workmanship. These skills and qualities are crucial for delivering projects on time, maintaining high standards, and fostering a productive work environment.
