Planet Technologies, the Nation’s leading Microsoft services provider to the public sector, is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our growing team as Dev Ops Cloud Developer.  In this role, you will be supporting impactful projects that make a difference for our country. 
 

The ideal candidate is an expert in DevSecOps, cloud-native development, and enterprise migration strategies, with a strong understanding of secure, resilient, and cost-effective cloud environments.  They will lead the design, development, deployment, and optimization of secure, scalable cloud solutions across the enterprise. This role shapes cloud architecture, automates cloud resource management, and enables delivery models such as Platform as a Service (PaaS), Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Software as a Service (SaaS), and Data as a Service (DaaS).

This role requires the ability to work on site in Huntsville, AL and the ability to maintain an Active Top Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Researches, architects, develops, and/or modifies enterprise-wide systems and/or applications software including DevOps, security, and data analytic solutions.
  • Drives, collaborates, and supports the planning of system and development deployment as well as meeting software compliance standards with a particular focus involving integrations and data analytic solutions.
  • Implements prototypes using new technologies and innovative techniques.
  • Performs ongoing maintenance and review of application systems and programs, identifies problems, and develops appropriate solutions

Architect Cloud Solutions:

  • Designs and implement cloud service delivery models (PaaS, IaaS, SaaS, DaaS) that meet business, security, and compliance requirements.
  • Leads the design of reusable, scalable, and secure multi-cloud architectures.

DevSecOps & Automation:

  • Implements Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, and automated configuration management using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, and GitLab.
  • Enforces DevSecOps best practices to ensure security and compliance are integrated into the entire cloud development lifecycle.

Cloud Migration & Modernization:

  • Analyzes existing applications to determine cloud readiness and develop tailored migration strategies.
  • Leads cloud migration initiatives, ensuring minimal disruption and maximal performance gain.

Optimization & Resiliency:

  • Develops strategies for cloud failure recovery, high availability (HA), disaster recovery (DR), and cost optimization.
  • Recommends improvements to application performance cloud spend, and scalability.

Security & Governance:

  • Collaborates with cybersecurity and compliance teams to ensure cloud deployments meet internal and regulatory standards.
  • Implements cloud-native security services and monitor for vulnerabilities, misconfigurations, and threats.

Mentorship & Technical Leadership:

  • Mentors’ junior and mid-level developers on cloud technologies, best practices, and solution delivery and serves as a technical advisor across cross-functional teams, participating in enterprise-level cloud governance.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of software or cloud development experience, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead cloud role and a bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field; or equivalent work experience. 
  • Deep hands-on experience with major cloud providers and hybrid/multi-cloud environments.
  • Advanced skills in Python, Java, or similar programming languages for cloud-native development.
  • Expert in automation tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible) and containerization platforms (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Strong understanding of DevSecOps principles and secure software development.
  • Proven experience building, deploying, and supporting mission-critical cloud applications.
  • Ability to work on site 5 days a week and hold and maintain an active TS clearance

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • IAM/IAT Level 3 Cert (CISM, CCSP, CASP, CISSP).
  • Professional certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect, Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect).
  • Experience with Zero Trust Architecture, serverless technologies, and event-driven design patterns.
  • Familiarity with enterprise security frameworks and compliance (FedRAMP, NIST 800- 53, ISO 27001).
