Job description

The Team Lead/Assistant Manager is responsible for leading the Ultimart stores day-to-day operations in the absence of the Store Manager, and for otherwise supporting the Store Manager in all aspects of running the store.

Summary of Key Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to, the following):

  • Processes cash, debit, credit and check transactions using a cash register or other point-of-sale system.
  • Maintains a clean and organized store environment and ensures that inventory is stocked and faced in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Maintains a calm demeanor during periods of high volume to keep store operating to standard and to set a positive example for the entire team.
  • Delivers outstanding Guest service by maintaining a positive and friendly demeanor and connecting with each and every Guest.
  • Consistently uses suggestive selling techniques in order to boost store sales and increase Guest satisfaction.
  • Follows all state and federal regulations for gas, alcohol, and tobacco sales.
  • Acts with integrity, honesty, and knowledge that promote the culture and values of our Company.
  • Follows Company operational policies and procedures, including those for cash handling and safety.
  • Maintains regular and punctual attendance.
  • Promotes great teamwork and readily assists with team needs throughout the shift.
  • Maintains a clean and polished appearance, wearing the designated uniform.
  • Assist in the training of new team members/cashiers of the Ultimart Team, ensuring excellent customer service.
  • Motivate, encourage, and challenge store cashiers.
  • Promote and resolve customer complaints, in a timely and professional manner.
  • Monitor daily retail gasoline competitors and sending the prices to the corporate office in a timely manner as established by management.
  • Complete daily paperwork and computer entry in a timely manner as established by management.
  • Have the physical ability to perform all duties of a store cashier regularly.
  • Understand all information in the daily reporting of store operations.
  • Follow and enforce all Company Policies and Established Procedures in the store Operations.
  • Enforce all Safety and Security Issues and report any and all unsafe conditions.
  • Report and process all employee and/ or customer incidents or accidents following company procedure.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team or individually
  • Must be proficient in reading, writing and speaking English
  • Must be at least 18 years of age

Availability Requirements:

  • Must have flexible availability for scheduling
  • Must be available for both opening and closing shifts
  • Must be able to work beyond scheduled hours as business requires
