Job description

Grants Specialist
Discovery Health Sciences Schools seeks an experienced Grants Specialist to facilitate the grant process in coordination with the Louisiana and United States Departments of Education, as well as private grantors.

Under the supervision of the CFO and Controller, this position will coordinate grant applications, pre- and post-award management of grants, data submissions, identify available funding sources, grant budgeting, grant compliance reporting, audits, and collection amp; dissemination of grant information to administration and faculty.

The Grants Specialist will work closely with the Chief Administrative Officer, Executive Director of Teaching and Learning, Principals, and school-based Title I Coordinators to ensure all grant requirements are completed accurately and submitted on time. This position is responsible for managing reporting through the eGMS platform and coordinating all required submissions to the local district (LEA).

An ideal candidate will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across academic, finance, HR, and operations teams, as well as with external agencies and funders, while maintaining a solid understanding of funding requirements, budgeting, and compliance.

Additional Position Information
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 2 years of Grant Management, Accounting, and Reporting (or related) experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • K-12 Education experience;
  • A history of successful federal, state, and private grant application, accounting, and reporting;
  • Experience with the LDOEโ€™s eGMS platform;
  • Experience with external audits of grants;
  • Well organized and efficient work history with an ability to meet deadlines
