Job Description

Under the direction of the Rough/Final Layout Supervisor, the 3D Layout Artist is responsible for executing the staging, character blocking and camera work that makes up the foundation of a successful shot and sequence of shots throughout a film. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create a sequence of shots at a master scene level via camera sequencer. Position characters, environments, props and temp VFX as required.
  • Propose relevant camera lenses, angles and movements, in line with the director's vision.Strong character posing and blocking skills are essential.
  • Responsible for maintaining continuity within the shots of an assigned sequence
  • Must consistently deliver within the quality and time established by Production and the Layout Supervisor
  • Provide strong artistic and technical expertise.
  • Ability to follow directions and embrace change.
  • Able to resolve camera and set dressing issues as the shots move through the pipeline
Qualifications

Required skills:

  • Proficient knowledge in MAYA
  • Have previous experience as a Layout Artist / Previs on animated films
  • Strong storytelling skillsHave an eye for shot composition and staging
  • Comfortable working in a LINUX environment
  • A good understanding of camera lenses and how to effectively use them in film
  • BilingualGood working knowledge of Flow Production Track (Shotgrid) and LinuxBasic modeling and lighting skills
  • Experience in directing and/or editing is a plus

Additional Information

The person in this role will work closely with our Paris studio in a bilingual environment, as well as with international partners, talent, and clients.
