What is a lava?

Lava jobs typically refer to positions related to the study, monitoring, and management of volcanic activity, specifically focusing on lava flows. These roles are often held by volcanologists, geologists, or emergency management professionals who analyze volcanic hazards, conduct fieldwork near active volcanoes, and work to predict and mitigate the impact of lava on communities. Responsibilities may include collecting lava samples, using remote sensing technologies, and developing risk reduction strategies. Such jobs are usually found in research institutions, government agencies, and environmental organizations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a lava technician, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Lava Technician, you need a background in geology or earth sciences, hands-on experience with fieldwork, and safety certification for working in hazardous environments. Familiarity with specialized monitoring equipment, thermal imaging tools, and GIS systems is typically required. Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help technicians analyze data and coordinate with research teams. These abilities ensure accurate data collection, safety, and effective collaboration when studying volcanic activity.

Welcome to Lava Island!

Lava Island is a high-energy indoor play oasis filled with trampolines, slides, foam pits, obstacle courses, and nonstop birthday parties. Families come here to make memories.

Our team is the reason those memories feel fun, safe, and unforgettable. Working at Lava Island means being part of something bigger—where your effort helps shape the kind of day families will talk about long after they leave.

What You’ll Do

  • Welcome families at check-in
  • Supervise play areas and support safety
  • Help run birthday parties and celebrations
  • Prepare and serve food in the café
  • Keep spaces clean, organized, and stocked
  • Bring steady, positive energy to each shift

This role is active and fast-moving, with a lot of variety throughout each shift.

Success in this role means staying engaged, supporting your team, and consistently delivering a great experience for families.

Who Thrives Here

We’re intentional about the team we build. People who succeed at Lava Island are:

  • Reliable and consistent
  • Friendly, steady, and positive under pressure
  • Focused on doing things the right way
  • Comfortable staying active
  • Supportive teammates
  • Quick to step in and help without being asked

We’re looking for people who care about their work and the families they serve.

Your Growth Path

Crew Member is the starting point on our team. From here, growth happens when you show consistent effort, reliability, and a willingness to learn. As you build confidence and skill, you can work toward opportunities such as:

  • Crew Specialist
  • Crew Trainer
  • Guest Experience Captain
  • Party Lead
  • Crew Lead

Each step comes with new responsibilities, new skills, and higher pay. Advancement is based on readiness, strong performance, and steady reliability — not seniority.

What You’ll Need

  • Age 16 or older
  • Background check
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 lbs
  • Must be available evenings, weekends, and holidays
