Superintendent - LAUSD Projects (Los Angeles)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to lead LAUSD school projects across the Los Angeles area. The Superintendent will be responsible for on-site leadership, schedule and quality control, safety and compliance with LAUSD standards, and day-to-day coordination of subcontractors and project stakeholders to deliver school facilities on time and within budget while minimizing disruption to ongoing campus operations.
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise daily on-site construction activities for LAUSD projects across multiple school sites in Los Angeles.
  • Develop, maintain, and drive project schedules; coordinate phased work to meet LAUSD timelines and school calendar constraints.
  • Ensure strict adherence to LAUSD construction standards, contract documents, local building codes, and safety regulations (including OSHA requirements).
  • Coordinate and manage subcontractors, trade foremen, and site staff to maintain productivity and quality.
  • Implement and enforce a proactive safety program, conduct site safety meetings, and ensure all personnel meet required training and certifications.
  • Serve as primary on-site liaison with LAUSD representatives, school administrators, and project stakeholders; communicate progress, issues, and mitigation plans.
  • Manage quality control, conduct inspections, and ensure work meets specifications before turnover.
  • Track and report daily progress, manpower, materials, equipment, RFIs, submittals, and schedule updates; maintain accurate site documentation.
  • Proactively identify and resolve construction issues, delays, and conflicts; escalate to project management as required.
  • Oversee project closeout, punch lists, and turnover activities to ensure timely and complete delivery of school facilities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of commercial construction experience with at least 3 years as a Superintendent on large projects; experience with K12 or institutional projects strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience working on LAUSD projects or familiarity with LAUSD standards, protocols, and approval processes preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, scheduling, sequencing, quality control, and safety compliance (OSHA 30 preferred).
  • Proven ability to coordinate multiple trades, manage subcontractors, and keep projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; experience interfacing with school administrators, district representatives, and community stakeholders.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting construction documents, drawings, and specifications; experience with project management and scheduling software (e.g., Procore, Primavera, MS Project) is a plus.
  • Valid drivers license and reliable transportation; ability to travel between sites throughout Los Angeles.
  • Ability to pass background checks and any required LAUSD badge/clearance processes.
  • Superintendent, Construction, LAUSD, and Schools experience or familiarity is highly desirable.
