Job description

Location: Hospital - Laundry
80/pp Full Time, includes every other Saturday and rotating holidays
Job Summary:
Process soiled linen, collect soiled linen, sort & wash soiled linen. Process clean washed linen, prepare delivery, deliver, pick-up soiled linen. Works with team members to complete tasks & keep records. Assists with training team members & demonstrates new techniques. Performs data collection for quality improvement.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Uses proper PPE when handling soiled linen.
• Collect soiled linen, in a safe & timely manner.
  • Sort soiled linen, weigh linen for washers & document weight accuracy.
  • Report foreign objects found in linen for safety.
  • Properly load washers.
  • Select formula & start washers, using appropriate formula for infection control.
  • Unload washers, while sorting linen for appropriate drying process.
  • Operate dryers timely & remove all lint.
  • Operate flatwork iron safely.
  • Inspect linen for stains/tears & send defective article to proper area to meet standard.
  • Fold dried linen to meet standard.
  • Inspect & sort surgical towels in stacks for appropriate use.
  • Place par on carts accurately.
  • Deliver carts of linen to user departments in a safe & timely manner.
  • Process linens & deliver to storage areas.
  • Complete laundry processes for all linens washed throughout the week/weekends.
  • Maintain clean environment.
  • Empty trash & remove boxes after deliveries.
  • Dust & clean/mop floors daily.
  • Trains new team members & ensures processes are met.
  • Assists in introducing new products, machines or equipment.
  • Performs data collection for quality improvement.
  • Works as a team completing daily activities/processes.
  • Performs quality checks & inspections of processed linens.
  • Monitors par stock levels & submits supply orders weekly or as needed.
  • Receives calls & problem solves when necessary.
  • Performs routine checks of linen storage areas & closets.
  • Maintains daily report.
  • Reports any departmental issues to manager.
  • Reports any machine malfunctions to manager.

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Strong communication & customer service skills.
  • Able to follow oral & written instructions.
  • Able to properly operate washers, dryers, iron, chemical dispensers, scales & carts.
  • Able to operate a computer & basic office equipment as needed.

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • No prior work experience required.

Physical Requirements:
  • Work requires constant walking, pushing, pulling, standing, stooping, reaching, manual dexterity & use of hands; frequent talking & occasional kneeling.
  • Constant lifting around 25 - 50lbs.
