Job description

Job Title: Laser Programmer

Job Description

The Laser Programmer is responsible for setting up, programming, and operating Trumpf laser cutting machines to produce precise, high-quality parts that meet customer specifications. This role involves both on-line and off-line programming, machine setup, troubleshooting, and consistent adherence to safety, quality, and company standards in a busy industrial manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate Trumpf laser cutting machines in accordance with print and traveler requirements.
  • Retrieve, edit, and manage laser programs, ensuring the correct gases, nozzles, and materials are selected for each job.
  • Perform complete start-up and shut-down procedures for Trumpf laser machines.
  • Program Trumpf laser machines both on-line and off-line using TruTops and CATIA software.
  • Modify existing programs as needed to optimize cutting performance and ensure parts meet all specifications.
  • Monitor machine cutting performance and utilization to maintain efficiency and throughput.
  • Inspect machined parts for dimensional accuracy and overall quality, and promptly report process issues to supervision.
  • Ensure all work complies with documented work instructions and customer requirements.
  • Diagnose machining and cutting problems during operations and make appropriate adjustments to resolve issues.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on Trumpf laser equipment in line with established schedules.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area through regular housekeeping activities.
  • Follow all safety procedures and regulations to maintain safe operations.
  • Adhere to company policies and quality standards in all aspects of work.

Essential Skills

  • At least 5 years of experience programming and operating Trumpf laser cutting machines.
  • Strong proficiency in laser programming, including both on-line and off-line programming.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Experience with laser operation in a production or industrial environment.
  • Working knowledge of Autocad for reading and working with drawings.
  • Ability to troubleshoot machining and cutting issues and make effective adjustments.
  • Commitment to following safety procedures, work instructions, and quality standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with TruTops software for Trumpf laser programming.
  • Experience with CATIA software for off-line programming and part modeling.
  • Additional Autocad experience beyond blueprint reading is a plus.
  • Industrial manufacturing, welding, or stamping facilities is beneficial.

Work Environment

The role is based in a multi-building industrial manufacturing setting that includes weld and stamping facilities, as well as general production and maintenance areas. The Laser Programmer may work in different buildings as needed and occasionally support building and facilities maintenance that can require some outdoor work, though the primary duties take place inside industrial weld and stamping facilities. The position is on first shift, typically 5:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with 10-hour days Monday through Friday and an additional 6-hour shift on Saturdays. While Saturdays are not always mandatory, the individual must be willing to work most Saturdays, generally 2 to 4 weeks each month. The environment is fast-paced and production-focused, with regular interaction with laser cutting equipment, metal materials, and standard industrial tools and machinery
