Job description

Laser Table Machine Operator

Manufacturing Machine OperationRequired | Up to $23/hr + Monthly Production Bonus that averages over $1,500 a month

TOPS Staffing is hiring experienced Laser Machine Operators for a growing metal fabrication manufacturer in the Petersburg, VA area.

This is NOT an entry-level machine operator position. Candidates must have previous experience operating metal fabrication or industrial manufacturing equipment. Experience running CNC equipment, laser tables, press brakes, turret presses, punch presses, plasma tables, saws, machining centers, or similar fabrication equipment is highly preferred.

You'll operate a state-of-the-art CNC laser cutting system used to process heavy plate steel while ensuring quality, accuracy, and production efficiency.

Schedule:

Paid Training

  • Monday-Friday
  • 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
  • Approximately 2 weeks

Afternoon Shift:

  • Monday-Friday
  • 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM

Pay:

$21.00-$23.00/hourstarting pay (based on experience)

Performance Bonus

After converting to the client's payroll (approximately 90 days), employees become eligible for an outstanding monthly production incentive averaging$1,500-$2,000 per month, significantly increasing annual earnings.

What You'll Do:

  • Operate CNC laser cutting equipment used to process steel plate
  • Load and unload material using overhead cranes and other material handling equipment
  • Monitor machine performance and make basic adjustments through the machine's HMI interface
  • Verify dimensions and inspect finished parts for accuracy
  • Read blueprints and shop drawings
  • Use tape measures and other measuring tools to ensure parts meet specifications
  • Remove burrs and finish parts using grinders and hand tools
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Previous experience operating machinery in a metal fabrication, steel processing, machining, or industrial manufacturing environment is required
  • Experience operating CNC-controlled fabrication equipment strongly preferred
  • Ability to read blueprints and shop drawings
  • Ability to accurately read a tape measure and perform quality inspections
  • Experience with overhead cranes and forklifts is a plus
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Reliable transportation and dependable attendance
