Position Summary

The Part-Time Human Resources Assistant provides administrative and operational support to the Human Resources function and plays a key role in maintaining efficient HR processes and a positive workplace environment. This position supports employee lifecycle activities, HR administration, office operations, employee communications, and records management while ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance.


Reporting to the Senior Human Resources Manager, this non-exempt position offers an excellent opportunity for an early-career HR professional to gain hands-on experience across multiple HR disciplines while contributing to meaningful employee initiatives.


This role requires an onsite presence in our Tarrytown, NY office Tuesday through Thursday, working approximately 16 to 18 hours per week. We offer flexibility with either two full workdays or a part-time schedule spread across three days.


Key Responsibilities


Human Resources Operations

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, files, and HR databases.
  • Organize and centralize HR documentation to improve accessibility and efficiency.
  • Manage document retention processes, including maintaining required physical files and digitizing records when appropriate.
  • Review and process incoming mail, research inquiries, and complete associated follow-up actions.
  • Prepare employment-related documents, reports, correspondence, and other HR materials.
  • Support HR compliance initiatives, audits, and reporting requirements.
  • Assist with maintaining HR policies, procedures, and documentation.


Human Resources Support

  • Provide administrative support throughout the employee lifecycle, including recruiting, onboarding, offboarding, benefits administration, and performance management processes.
  • Assist with new hire onboarding activities and employee communications.
  • Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) and workflows for HR functions.
  • Support HR projects, employee engagement initiatives, and organizational programs.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, enhance efficiency, and improve employee experience.
  • Respond to routine employee inquiries and direct issues to appropriate resources when needed.


Office Administration & Management

  • Maintain an organized HR office environment and office supply areas.
  • Support day-to-day office operations, including mail distribution and office logistics.
  • Manage inventory and ordering of office, kitchen, and workplace supplies.
  • Coordinate meetings, training sessions, employee events, team lunches, and conference room scheduling.
  • Support workplace safety initiatives, emergency preparedness activities, and general operational needs.
  • Perform other administrative and support duties as assigned.


Qualifications


Required

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of relevant experience, which may include internships, HR-related coursework, student leadership roles, or administrative support experience.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.


Preferred

  • Previous experience supporting HR functions or office administration.
  • Familiarity with HR systems, document management, and employee recordkeeping.
  • Interest in pursuing a long-term career in Human Resources.

Compensation
