Description
Akehurst Landscape Service is searching for a full-time Mechanic/Shop Tech to perform maintenance and repairs on equipment and provide support to landscape crews.
Depending on the weather, it may be necessary to work outside of regular hours when the equipment is not in use, including Fridays, Saturdays, or on rare occasion, Sundays.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Perform regular preventative maintenance on two and four stroke equipment such as trucks, lawn mowers, seeders, compactors, loaders, spreaders, chainsaws, trimmers, blowers and trailers.
  • Diagnose and perform necessary repairs to broken equipment as needed.
  • Pick up/deliver special repairs to and from outside vendors when unable to perform repair in-house.
  • Notify Fleet Manager of parts needs.
  • Assist with emergency on-site crew equipment repairs/swaps.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of shop & common areas.
  • Attentive record keeping of all service and repairs performed.

Requirements
Applicant Qualifications:
  • Willingness to learn & adapt.
  • Extremely reliable.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Effective time management, ability to prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to problem solve without asking questions.
  • Ability to follow directions.
  • Must have own reliable transportation.
  • Valid driver's license & clean driving record.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Live local to the area.
  • Welding & diesel experience a plus.

Required:
  • High school or equivalent preferred
  • Mechanic for preferably 1 year
  • Driver's License with clean driving record
  • DOT Certification or willing to obtain DOT Certification at the Company's expense

Salary Description
$16-$18 per hour
