Job description

Job Summary (Essential Functions): Assists in overseeing the daily course and clubhouse landscape and inspects conditions.
Job Knowledge, Core Competencies, and Expectations:
  • Knowledge of tools, methods, and materials used in grounds, landscaped area maintenance work, and building maintenance and improvement.
  • Operate various equipment that is related to the maintenance of landscape.
  • Knowledge of horticulture.
  • Knowledge of and ability to perform required roles in emergency situations.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Performs ongoing landscape maintenance activities including but not limited to clubhouse, snack bars, cottages, and sports complex.
  • Responsible for installing over 200 annuals yearly.
  • Responsible for coordinating multiple plantings and clean up as the seasons change.
  • Perform duties including, but not limited to, watering, fertilization, and application of pesticides to plant material as warranted by environmental conditions.
  • Ensures all plantings are properly watered, fertilized, and cared for to promote healthy growth and prevent problems.
  • Operates various types of equipment.
  • Conduct regular inspections of landscaped areas to identify issues.
  • Ensures compliance with all Grounds Department and club policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Maintains accurate logs and records as required.
  • Follows all safety protocols.
  • Attends staff meetings.
  • Performs other appropriate tasks assigned by the Landscape Manager and Director of Agronomy.

Experience
  • Experience in the maintenance, operation or management of a golf course and related facilities and equipment preferred.

Education
  • Undergraduate college study in horticulture or related field preferred.

Licenses and Special Requirements
  • Pesticide Applicator's certificate, ability to obtain within 90days of employment
  • Valid driver's license.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
  • Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; extreme cold; extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
  • Able to meet and perform the physical requirements of the job and to work effectively in an environment that is typical of this position.
  • Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, stooping, and pulling.
  • Must be able to lift 75 pounds.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Must have a reliable form of transportation to and from work.

General Information
Scheduled Shifts: Seasonal position. Days and hours are based on club operations and weather conditions. Regularly works 30+ hours per week.
Wage: Competitive wage, based on experience.
