Job description

Position Summary

Performs irrigation troubleshooting, repairs, small improvements, and technical support for maintenance, enhancement, and project work while protecting margin, schedule reliability, and client satisfaction.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair intricate irrigation issues, including valves, controllers, sleeves, laterals, mainlines, heads, drip lines, bubblers, and flow sensors.
  • Support scheduled irrigation installations and field adjustments across maintenance accounts, active projects, and site enhancements.
  • Document all field findings, completed work, before/after photos, and materials used live on-site using Aspire CRM software.
  • Identify additional repair or system upgrade opportunities in the field and cleanly communicate them to Account Managers for quick customer estimating.
  • Communicate schedule risks, property access limits, or material shortages promptly to the Irrigation Manager.
  • Maintain tool inventory, vehicle readiness, and clean safety practices while keeping a professional presence on client sites.

Decision Rights and Boundaries

  • May independently diagnose issues and perform approved irrigation repairs within assigned daily accounts.
  • May recommend critical system adjustments to clients but does not authorize extra work orders, custom pricing adjustments, or firm scheduling commitments without management approval.
  • May stop field work immediately if unsafe conditions, utility conflicts, property access restrictions, or vague job scopes arise.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven irrigation troubleshooting and repair experience within a landscape maintenance or construction setting.
  • Strong understanding of modern irrigation infrastructure, including controllers, low-voltage wiring, diagnostic equipment, and commercial tools.
  • Comfort utilizing field technology or smart device apps (like Aspire CRM) for real-time tracking and reporting.
  • Excellent field judgment, safety awareness, and verbal communication skills to translate technical irrigation problems to non-technical staff or clients.

Success Measures

  • Irrigation project gross margins consistently meet the company's target GM%.
  • Scheduled service tickets are executed efficiently, with any field delays flagged early to management.
  • Field assignments are driven independently, requiring minimal supervision and a high degree of solo completion.
  • Field documentation supports immediate billing and provides Account Managers with accurate backup details for clients.
  • Call-backs and unresolved system issues are significantly reduced through thorough root-cause troubleshooting.
