Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION

Piala's Nursery & Garden Shop, Inc. is seeking a Landscape Softscape & Maintenance Foreperson to work with our construction team. We offer a consistent work schedule with paid overtime, the possibility of year-round employment, the possibility of a benefit package (for full-time, year-round) and the potential for performance-based bonuses. Compensation package is based on experience. NO WINTER PLOWING.

The ideal candidate is an upbeat, detail-oriented, highly motivated self-starter with a minimum of three years of landscape maintenance or construction experience, that takes pride and ownership of team’s work. Must be able to lift heavy materials repeatedly. Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are preferred, but English-only or Spanish-only skills are acceptable.

Responsibilities:

  • Read blueprints and lay out jobsites
  • Perform and supervise landscape construction - Tasks vary and may include (but not limited to): planting, mulching, pruning and maintenance
  • Train, motivate and supervise 3-5 landscape laborers
  • Track material and labor use on a daily basis
  • Safely operate equipment (skid loader, mini-excavator, small engine equipment, trucks, trailers, etc)
  • Perform daily equipment maintenance (check fluids, clean air filters, etc.)

REQUIREMENTS
  • •Must be at least 18 years old
  • •Hold a current and valid Driver's License
  • •Hold a Pesticide Applicator License (3.0 – Turf & Landscape); if one is not currently held, must be willing to obtain and maintain a Pesticide Applicator License
  • •A positive attitude
  • •Ability to operate a tractor and/or skid loader to complete job duties; Must have experience operating skid loaders or be able and willing to learn
  • •Physical condition that allows you to meet the demands of daily tasks, including the ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • •Ability to maintain a professional appearance
  • •Ability to communicate with clients and employees in a professional and concise manner
  • •Basic plant/horticulture care knowledge (knowledge of various pruning techniques is a major plus)
