What is a landmark?

Landmark jobs are positions within an organization that are used as key reference points for job evaluation, salary benchmarking, and compensation planning. These jobs are typically well-defined, stable, and widely recognized in the industry, making them useful for comparing roles both internally and externally. Organizations use landmark jobs to ensure consistency and fairness in pay structures by aligning other roles relative to these benchmarks. They are not necessarily unique to a single company and often represent commonly found roles across multiple organizations.

Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills make candidates stand out in this role. These skills are crucial for successfully delivering complex landmark projects on time, within budget, and in accordance with regulatory and preservation standards.

Job description

We are looking for the right people — people who want to innovate, achieve, grow and lead. We attract and retain the best talent by investing in our employees and empowering them to develop themselves and their careers. Experience the challenges, rewards and opportunity of working for one of the world’s largest providers of products and services to the global energy industry.

ABOUT LANDMARK

Landmark, a Halliburton company, builds software and data platforms that help the global energy industry make better decisions. Our products span subsurface interpretation, well construction planning, reservoir simulation, and digital operations. These are tools used daily by engineers and scientists at the world’s largest energy companies. The Engineering organization owns the infrastructure, cloud operations, and deployment frameworks that make Landmark’s product portfolio available to customers across the globe: in the cloud, at the customer site, and in environments where connectivity cannot be assumed.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Senior Architect, at Landmark, you will help create and evolve the architecture and design of Landmark’s platform and applications. The Platform Delivery Manager owns the team and its delivery commitments; you own the architecture along with other platform and domain architects.

You will participate in Landmark’s architecture community. You will partner with other architects to ensure that all teams understand the architecture and the best practices to adopt. You will participate in reviews to ensure adoption.

Job Duties

Platform Architecture Ownership

  • Jointly define and maintain the architectures for Landmark’s platform and applications, including architecture diagrams, documentation and architectural decision records..

Cross-Team Partnership

  • Work with the architects in domain application teams to explain the proper use of the platform
  • Review application architectures to verify the usage

Architecture Community

  • Participate in Landmark’s architecture community
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related STEM discipline, or equivalent professional experience
  • 10+ years of professional software engineering experience developing web and cloud applications
  • Demonstrated track record of defining architectures and implementing performant, resilient and scalable solutions
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to produce architectural specifications, decision records, and interface contracts that are precise enough to be implemented and clear enough to be understood by teams that did not write them
  • Demonstrated ability to influence technical peers across teams through the quality of architectural reasoning rather than organizational authority
  • Hands on full stack experience implementing solutions on AWS and/or Azure
  • Relational and unstructured Database development and data modeling experience
  • Experience building front ends with React or Angular
  • Knowledge of different compute paradigms – microservices/K8S, lambdas/functions, distributed and GPU computing
  • Knowledge of AI/ML technologies

Preferred:

  • Experience with both AWS and Azure native services
  • Background in oil & gas

We welcome candidates from all backgrounds and encourage you to apply even if your experience does not match every item in the preferred list.

Candidates having qualifications that exceed the minimum job requirements will receive consideration for higher level roles given (1) their experience, (2) additional job requirements, and/or (3) business needs. Depending on education, experience, and skill level, a variety of job opportunities might be available, including Senior Software Architect.

WHY LANDMARK

The Architecture organization at Landmark is key to the company’s success. As a member of this organization, you will work with the platform engineering teams and the Chief Architect to define the components of Landmark’s software architecture. Your architectural decisions will affect every product team in the organization and every customer who deploys Landmark software. You will have direct access to the architecture community, executive sponsorship through the CTO, and the relationships with security, compliance, and enterprise stakeholders needed to make architectural commitments that hold.

We build small, high-ownership teams and invest in the quality of every person on them. Engineers here co-author the product strategy alongside product management and domain science: the art of the possible is an engineering contribution, not a function that sits upstream. The experiences we design ensure that customers remain in control of the decisions that matter, never passengers in their own workflows.

We offer competitive compensation, a strong IC career ladder with a visible path to Principal Architect, and a business where architecture quality is a direct competitive differentiator in enterprise and regulated-market deals.
