Job description

Civil Project Manager – Land Development Engineering

We are seeking a Civil Project Manager with experience in land development engineering, infrastructure design, and construction document preparation for roads, parking areas, storm drainage systems, stormwater management facilities, water mains, sanitary sewers, erosion and sediment control, and related site development improvements.

This role includes advancing civil engineering design concepts and overseeing their incorporation into final construction documents. The ideal candidate possesses strong written and verbal communication skills and is comfortable collaborating with internal teams, regulatory agencies, and clients.

The Project Manager is responsible for the overall execution of assigned projects, ensuring they are completed in accordance with contractual requirements, within schedule, and within budget. Depending on project needs, the individual may perform both Project Engineer and Project Manager responsibilities.

Typical Responsibilities

  • Analyze reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, test results, aerial photography, and topographic and geologic data to support project planning and design.
  • Develop schematic design information and coordinate progression into construction documents.
  • Collaborate with architects, planners, surveyors, and other design professionals.
  • Manage staff activities to achieve project schedule, budget, and quality objectives.
  • Prepare sketches and design layouts for incorporation into final drawings.
  • Direct technicians and designers in converting concepts into construction documents.
  • Perform engineering calculations and design for storm sewer systems, detention facilities, stormwater BMPs, and sanitary sewer systems.
  • Utilize engineering software and spreadsheets for analysis, design, and presentations.
  • Select project details, specifications, and notes appropriate for each assignment.
  • Serve as a liaison with municipalities and regulatory agencies.
  • Communicate with clients throughout all phases of project development.
  • Provide technical guidance and daily support to project teams.
  • Identify problems quickly and develop practical solutions.
  • Perform value engineering and maintain responsibility for the quality and accuracy of project deliverables.
  • Mentor and develop junior team members.
  • Attend construction meetings and prepare site observation reports.
  • Support business development efforts and maintain involvement with professional organizations.
  • Participate in proposal preparation and contractual negotiations while ensuring compliance with client agreements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in land development engineering.
