Brief Role Description

This position is a career level 29L, reports to Benedikt Strasser and is located in San Jose, CA with a role classification of Fully On-Site.

This role leads fast, robust integration execution for ADAS ECUs and functions into the SDV 0.1 vehicle architecture, enabling rapid learning cycles from simulation and lab to vehicle. The Sr. Manager provides hands-on technical leadership and delivery ownership, coordinating integration planning, debugging, and readiness across multiple parallel workstreams, including autonomy/ADAS software components such as perception and planning. Acting as a key technical interface between RVT and Volkswagen Group stakeholders in the US and Germany, the role structures alignment forums and drives closure on integration issues across time zones. The position builds and mentors a highly technical engineering team and leverages existing CI/CD, test benches, SIL/HIL, and automation to reduce cycle time and improve integration quality.

Possible Tasks within this Role

Fast ADAS Integration into SDV 0.1 Architecture (40%)

  • Drive end-to-end technical integration of ADAS ECUs and functions into the SDV 0.1 vehicle architecture, including ECU bring-up, HW/SW integration, middleware interfaces, system timing, data flows, and dependency management
  • Integrate and troubleshoot autonomy/ADAS software components (e.g., perception and planning) on target controllers and in vehicle test setups to achieve stable, repeatable behavior
  • Debug and triage complex issues spanning software, hardware, and cross-ECU communications; ensure fixes are driven to the responsible owners and validated
  • Define and align integration milestones and deliverables with platform owners, system architects, and vehicle programs; identify gaps and proactively drive resolution
  • Support early integration learning cycles using prototype or concept-vehicle environments when applicable to de-risk SDV 0.1 delivery
  •

Technical Leadership, Planning, Risk & Escalation (25%)

  • Provide technical and execution leadership to a team of senior engineers; plan and track scope, timelines, resources, and technical dependencies across integration streams
  • Lead technical reviews, integration workshops, and issue-resolution sessions; manage risks, trade-offs, and quality impacts; escalate with clear options and recommendations when needed

Integration Automation & Validation Enablement (20%)

  • Build, maintain, and evolve integration test benches and configurations (including rest-bus simulation) and enable reproducible test execution
  • Convert manual integration checks into automated tests where feasible and enable continuous regression in SIL/HIL and lab environments
  • Leverage existing CI/CD and test environments across RVT and VWG to accelerate build/integration/validation cycles and reduce manual effort

Interface & Stakeholder Management (10%)

  • Serve as a key interface between US and German stakeholders across ADAS, SDV platform, systems engineering, and vehicle programs
  • Structure communication, decision-making, and technical alignment forums; translate platform goals into actionable integration plans and provide transparent status reporting
