Job Title

Job Description Summary

This position is responsible for the operation of tractor trailer combinations to facilitate the delivery of raw materials to the plant. Truck drivers are responsible for the safe and efficient operation of their trucks and for maintaining all pertinent records.

Drives tractor-trailer combination (or bobtail/straight truck), while applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations. Maneuvers truck into loading and/or unloading position, following signals from loading crew as required. Drives truck to weigh station before and after loading, and along route to document weight in compliance with state regulations. Maintains driver log following DOT regulations. Inspects truck before and after use and submits report indicating truck condition. Reads bill of lading to determine assignment. Fastens chains or binders, which includes throwing straps, to secure loads on trailer during transit. Loads, unloads, or assists in loading and unloading truck. Services and maintains truck with oil, fuel, and radiator fluid. Complies with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Reports all unsafe activities to supervisor. Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals. Participate in safety engagement activities as required. May be required to train other employees as needed. May be required to be used as Yard Driver in case of emergencies. Other duties as assigned.

Basic & Preferred Qualifications

Education/Certifications: (Required & Preferred) High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred Valid (CDL) Class A driver's license is required. Interstate qualification Must meet Lamb Weston's driving standards.

Skills and Experience: Effectively communicate in English verbally and in writing. Ability to understand instructions and follow directions in English, both written and oral. (Requirement may vary by location). 1 - 2 years' related experience and/or training required. Independently resolves a variety of routine and non-routine problems, seeking assistance on complex matters and tasks. Thorough knowledge and experience in the operation of truck equipment, including its design, uses, emergency repair, and maintenance. Ability to complete assigned duties with minimal supervision. Demonstrates basic to more advanced written, verbal, interpersonal, and manual or mechanical handling skills, and applies skills required for manual or automated record keeping. Ability to perform basic math functions, required. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer operation knowledge, data entry skills, and be proficient in Microsoft Office programs

Physical Environment/Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without mechanical assistance. Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently. Exposed to a noisy environment frequently. Exposed to indoor and outdoor environments which vary from hot to cold temperatures. Ability to do repetitious arm, wrist and hand movements required for job actions and procedures. Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead, and to work in or under the equipment. Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform job duties. Ability to operate work related equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
