Job description

We have an outstanding Contract position for a Test Engineer to join a leading Company located in the Huntsville, AL surrounding area.

**US Citizenship is required.**
**Candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.**

We're seeking a skilled Test Engineer with electrical engineering expertise to join our Hypersonics team supporting the Common Hypersonic Glide Body (CHGB) program. The ideal candidate will combine electrical engineering knowledge with software development capabilities to help design, implement, and maintain automated test systems for flight-critical avionics. This role requires a blend of hardware and software expertise and the ability to validate complex electronic systems throughout the product lifecycle.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement automated test procedures for avionics hardware components and systems
  • Develop/support test software using modern languages (Python, C/C++, LabVIEW) within a CI/CD framework (lower in priority for this job, but ideal to have for future growth and higher utility)
  • Design and integrate electrical assemblies including cables and harnesses for test systems
  • Support test systems that simulate real-world conditions for avionics components
  • Collaborate with electrical, software, and mechanical engineers to optimize product performance
  • Document test requirements, procedures, and results using digital engineering tools
  • Apply "test-like-you-fly" methodologies to ensure products meet mission requirements
  • Troubleshoot hardware/software issues and provide technical recommendations
  • Participate in review boards and technical interchange meetings with customers and suppliers

Basic Hiring Criteria:
  • Master's degree in related engineering field
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, C/C++, or LabVIEW (lower in priority for this role as noted above)
  • Familiarity with test automation and CI/CD practices (lower in priority for this role as noted above)
  • Experience with version control systems (Git) and Agile development methods (lower in priority for this role as noted above)
  • Experience with PCB design and troubleshooting including embedded processor, microcontroller, or FPGA-based designs
  • Experience with RF testing and calibration
  • Experience in aerospace or defense industry test environments
  • Knowledge of environmental testing procedures
  • Familiarity with databases for test data collection
  • Experience with digital engineering tools (JIRA, Confluence, GitLab)
  • Understanding of statistical analysis for test validation
  • Experience with test systems for production environments
  • Familiarity with IPC/J-STD standards (J-STD-001, IPC-A-600/610/620) for electronic assembly
  • Familiarity with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Creo, Altium, or KiCad
  • Familiarity with military standards
  • Prior DoD program experience
