Job Summary
NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Propulsion Engineer to support the design, development, and testing of advanced propulsion systems for spaceflight missions. This role is central to enabling human and robotic exploration beyond Earth orbit, including programs like Artemis and the Space Launch System (SLS). You'll work alongside world-class engineers to push the boundaries of rocket propulsion and space transportation technologies.
Essential Job Duties
  • Design and analyze liquid and solid propulsion systems, components, and subsystems
  • Develop test plans, conduct performance evaluations, and interpret data from engine and system tests
  • Support integration of propulsion systems with launch vehicles and spacecraft
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure system compatibility and mission readiness
  • Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with NASA engineering standards, safety protocols, and quality assurance requirements
  • Participate in anomaly resolution, root cause analysis, and design improvements

Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training)
  • Bachelor's or higher from an accredited institution in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in propulsion system design, testing, or analysis (NASA or aerospace experience preferred)
  • Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and combustion principles
  • Proficiency in engineering tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, ANSYS, or CFD software
  • Must be a US citizen
