Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Location: BayHealth Hospital – Kent Campus, Dover, DE

Department: KENT Microbiology

Shift: Days, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Schedule: Monday – Friday

Pay: $32.03 – $49.64/hour

Sign-On Bonus: $12,000 with a 2-year commitment

Start Date: August 27, 2026

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support daily operations of the Microbiology laboratory section.
  • Perform medical laboratory testing accurately and within required turnaround times.
  • Assist the supervisor/manager with workflow, staffing, and real-time task assignments.
  • Serve as a resource for technical problem-solving and may act as supervisor when needed.
  • Handle specimen processing, testing, result reporting, and critical value notification.
  • Monitor quality control, proficiency testing, calibrations, and instrument performance.
  • Maintain inventory, reagent logs, supplies, and coordinate equipment service.
  • Train staff and students and assist with competency assessments and performance evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory, safety, infection control, and regulatory standards.
  • Assist with developing, validating, and implementing new laboratory procedures.
  • Review patient results, QC data, statistics, and performance improvement reports.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant science/medical laboratory field.
  • Certified Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP) required.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in a high-complexity laboratory.
  • Microbiology experience is required.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, quality control, and regulatory requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 years of relevant Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technician experience preferred.
  • Additional certification related to the position is a plus.
