Senior Laboratory Technician, Operations
Location: Long Island City, NY
Join dsm-firmenich's olfactory research lab in NYC as a Senior Technician in Lab Operations. Ensuring daily lab readiness, safety, and efficiency. Support the development of new lab capabilities to bring flavor and fragrance innovations to market. Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure daily laboratory readiness by managing inventory of supplies and overseeing equipment maintenance.
  • Execute the procurement process, including vendor relationships, forecasting supply needs, and handling ordering and receiving.
  • Maintain strict adherence to regulatory compliance (OSHA, EPA, local codes) and keep all documentation audit ready.
  • Oversee hazardous waste management and assist with safety inspections, audits, and regulatory readiness checks.
  • Support the development and implementation of new laboratory capabilities and technologies in collaboration with research teams.
  • Mentor and onboard new personnel, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance lab organization, safety, and efficiency.

You Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or a related life science; master's degree in lab management or a life science discipline is a plus
  • 3+ years of experience in laboratory operations or lab support, preferably in a life sciences or research environment.
  • Proven expertise in equipment lifecycle management, including maintenance, calibration and vendor coordination.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of regulatory compliance, and hazardous waste management practices.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Prior experience in molecular and cellular biology, GPCR screening, or in high-throughput screening environments is preferred.

The salary or hourly wage scale provided reflects the pay range dsm-firmenich expects to pay the successful candidate for the position. Individual pay offered will be based on the applicant's job-related skills, experience, relevant education, or training, and primary work location. This position is also eligible for bonuses and benefits, which are not included in the pay scale provided. Salary $60,000-$80,000.

All benefits and incentives are subject to eligibility requirements.
